Multiple tragic figures have taken on the Clayface mantle over the years.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt34890576\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt34890576\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_3\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">IMDb<\/a>, Clayface spans <strong>body horror, folk horror, monster horror and psychological horror<\/strong>, plus your usual action, adventure, fantasy type genres, and when you notice that the screenplay was written by the incredible <strong>Mike Flanagan<\/strong>, famed for the likes of <strong>The Haunting of Hill House<\/strong>, <strong>Midnight Mass<\/strong> and <strong>Gerald\u2019s Game<\/strong>, and is being directed by <strong>James Watkins<\/strong> of <strong>Eden Lake<\/strong> and <strong>Speak No Evil<\/strong>, Clayface is set to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/horror-films-manchester\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/horror-films-manchester\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_4\" data-category=\"click_internal\">horror<\/a> show for the masses.<\/p>\n<p>Clayface stars <strong>Tom Rhys Harries<\/strong> as Matt Hagen AKA Clayface,<strong> Naomi Ackie<\/strong> (fresh from her role in <a href=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/the-thursday-murder-club-trail-netflix-rhs-garden-bridgewater\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/the-thursday-murder-club-trail-netflix-rhs-garden-bridgewater\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_6\" data-category=\"click_internal\">The Thursday Murder Club<\/a>, amongst other successes) as Caitlin Bates, plus <strong>Eddie Marsan<\/strong> and <strong>Max Minghella<\/strong>, so plenty of British talent to go around.<\/p>\n<p> Clayface filming locations in Manchester <\/p>\n<p>The Clayface production has been spotted in several places around Manchester, with the full cast and crew in tow.<\/p>\n<p> Stockport Plaza <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOeB2ekDS-h\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>@theeradko via TikTok<\/p>\n<p>The incredible Art Deco fa\u00e7ade of <a href=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/things-to-do-stockport\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/things-to-do-stockport\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_7\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Stockport<\/a> Plaza serves as a dramatic backdrop for the Clayface production, being used earlier this month to film <strong>scenes outside a film premiere<\/strong>, featuring screaming fans and paparazzi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\">The filming on September 9 featured star <strong>Tom Rhys Harries dressed in a blue suit<\/strong> as he ran through the crowds, with<strong> film posters<\/strong> seen on set suggesting the filming was for the premiere of a fictional movie called <strong>The Light Between<\/strong>. Filming also saw actors walk the red carpet outside the Stockport Plaza, which first opened back in 1932.<\/p>\n<p> Castlefield <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42957\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"castlefield-viaduct-manchester\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1152\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/castlefield-viaduct-scaled.jpg\"\/>Credit: National Trust <\/p>\n<p>On September 17, the industrial backdrop of <a href=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/romans-remains-road-found-manchester\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/romans-remains-road-found-manchester\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_8\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Castlefield<\/a> in Manchester city centre was used for filming Clayface, although what the scenes were depicting isn\u2019t really the most flattering. The historic and iconic railway arches were dressed as <strong>homeless camps<\/strong> with litter and empty trollies sprawled everywhere \u2013 not unlike what you see when the canals run dry \u2013 and posters pasted on the walls, alluding to things going on in Gotham.<\/p>\n<p>Both Ackie and Harries were seen filming scenes in Castlefield, and the use of <strong>Gotham police cars<\/strong> and <strong>evidence unit vehicles<\/strong> suggests some kind of crime being unearthed in the film.<\/p>\n<p> Other North West Clayface filming locations <\/p>\n<p>Just over to the coast in <a href=\"https:\/\/secretliverpool.co\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretliverpool.co\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_9\" data-category=\"click_cross\">Liverpool<\/a> and the general Merseyside area, there have been plenty of sightings of the Clayface team in filming mode.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-77384\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"2133\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/phil-kiel-uQ8fMMzV95Q-unsplash-e1758282547388.jpg\"\/>Credit: Phil Kiel via Unsplash Seacombe Promenade <\/p>\n<p>The Wirral ferry terminal at <strong>Seacombe Promenade<\/strong> was cordoned off for filming, with crews seeming to use the<strong> entrance to the disused Birkenhead tunnel<\/strong> for Clayface filming.<\/p>\n<p> Liverpool Crown Court <\/p>\n<p>As is the norm with many films of this type, a hospital is definitely needed. For Clayface, Liverpool Crown Court was transformed \u2013 at least externally \u2013 into Gotham Hospital, which you can imagine will be much frequented.<\/p>\n<p> Liverpool Philharmonic Hall <\/p>\n<p>The beautiful<strong> Philharmonic Hall<\/strong> in Liverpool was adorned with neon lights for Clayface filming, doubling as<strong> glitzy <a href=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/manchester-nightclubs\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretmanchester.com\/manchester-nightclubs\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_10\" data-category=\"click_internal\">nightclub<\/a> Vesuvius<\/strong>, replacing its usual classic frontage. Max Minghella was spotted on location, bolstering rumours that he will play a detective in the movie, as filming also involved some police cars arriving outside the nightclub.<\/p>\n<p> New Brighton <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-77385\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"801\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/new-brighton-adventureland.jpg\"\/>Credit: The New Palace &amp; Adventureland New Brighton <\/p>\n<p>The lovely <strong>New Brighton<\/strong> became a filming location for Clayface too, with <strong>amusement arcades<\/strong> and <strong>fairground rides<\/strong> spotted being used in filming, alongside<strong> vintage cars<\/strong> sighted outside Adventureland in Wirral.<\/p>\n<p> The Cunard Building <\/p>\n<p>The beautiful<strong> Cunard Building<\/strong> in Liverpool seemed to be used for some rainy scenes, too, with water towers spotted on set pouring water onto the umbrella-clad actors below. The building seemed to be renamed \u2018<strong>Pinkney Tower<\/strong>\u2018, as actors poured into the entrance surrounded by desperate reporters \u2013 a la some sort of court entrance.<\/p>\n<p> Water Street <\/p>\n<p>A \u2018<strong>Chestnut Avenue<\/strong>\u2018 subway sign appeared on Water Street in Liverpool, usually called James Street station on the daily.
