A group of Wick pupils took to the starting grid to enjoy a memorable school trip to the Williams Formula One team\u2019s Experience Centre in Oxfordshire earlier this month.<\/p>\n
The 38 children from S2 and S3 took a guided tour of the museum, where pupils explored the history of Williams Racing and saw some of the team\u2019s most famous Formula One cars up close.<\/p>\n

Focused on the road ahead are some of the pupils in the simulators.<\/p>\n
The museum contains F1 cars from nearly 50 years of the team\u2019s history, including cars that have delivered 114 race victories and 16 world championships, as well as race suits, helmets and more worn by legendary drivers. The Williams team began competing at this level in 1978 and its drivers have included Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher.<\/p>\n
Wick High School said that the highlight for many was getting the chance to sit in the simulator racing seats and experience the speed and precision of a Formula One driver on the track.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Wick High School pupils rewarded for \u2018outstanding achievements\u2019 at prize giving<\/a><\/p>\n In the afternoon, pupils took part in a STEM workshop where they investigated the advanced materials used in Formula One engineering. Pupils worked in teams to design a Formula One car nose can, and were given the opportunity to crash test their creations.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the school said: \u201cThe trip gave pupils a fascinating insight into the world of motorsport, while also showing how STEM subjects studied in school can open up exciting career opportunities.
