Cops<\/a> have released a fresh image of a missing Edinburgh pensioner who vanished five days ago in the Highlands.<\/p>\n

Ian Currie, from the capital, was last seen in Glenfinnan on Tuesday, September 16<\/a>. The 76-year-old set off to walk the Cape Wrath trail before he disappeared.<\/p>\n

A frantic search was launched last week with specialist Police Scotland officers teaming up with mountain rescue. Search and rescue dogs were also deployed to help trace Ian.<\/a><\/p>\n

Air support has also been used with Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue teams and HM Coastguard helicopter scouring the area.<\/p>\n

Police have now released a new CCTV <\/a>image of Ian taken from Fort William station which shows what he was wearing when he was last seen.<\/p>\n

Ian is described as white, around 6ft tall, of medium build, with white hair and wears glasses. The new image shows Ian carrying camping gear – a rucksack and a green tent<\/a> – while wearing a black waterproof jacket.<\/p>\n

The alarm was raised of Ian’s disappearance <\/a>on the evening of Thursday, September 18 when Ian failed to arrive to Inverie Bunkhouse.<\/p>\n

He was reported missing to police that evening and since extensive searches<\/a> have been carried out.<\/p>\n

Phone activity previously showed Ian may have strayed from his planned path, however following further enquiries, a witness has reported a sighting of Ian on the Cape Wrath trail.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Ian Currie, from Edinburgh, was last seen in the Glenfinnan area on Tuesday, 16 September, 2025 as he set off to walk the Cape Wrath Trail.<\/p>\n

“He is white, around 6ft tall, of medium build, with white hair and wears glasses. He is believed to be wearing a black waterproof jacket and carrying a rucksack and a green tent.<\/p>\n

“Ian was due to arrive at Inverie Bunkhouse on the evening of Thursday, 18 September, but failed to arrive. He was reported missing to police that evening and since extensive searches have been carried out.<\/p>\n

“Specialist officers including mountain rescue, search and rescue dogs association and Lochaber and Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue teams are checking the area for any signs of Ian. They are being assisted by the HM Coastguard helicopter.<\/p>\n

“Phone activity previously showed Ian may have strayed from his planned path, however following further enquiries, a witness has reported a sighting of Ian on the Cape Wrath trail.<\/p>\n

“We now believe Ian was last seen around 4pm on Tuesday, 16 September, about 5km north of Fort William Train Station, on the Cape Wrath trail.<\/p>\n

“A new CCTV image of Ian from the train station, shows what he was wearing when he was last seen.”<\/p>\n

Inspector Kay Macrae said: \u201cI am appealing to anyone who may have been walking in the Glenfinnan area to get in touch if they believe they have seen Ian.<\/p>\n

“I would like to thank the members of the public who have come forward with information, these are vital to help us locate Ian. Please think back to Tuesday, did you see anyone that matches Ian’s description? Does the new CCTV image jog your memory? If so contact police.”<\/p>\n
