With dance music culture “booming again” throughout the world<\/a>, the spaces where it happens are also receiving renewed attention.<\/p>\n

The DJ booth is arguably at the centre of it all, serving as its own mini-gathering hub inside of a larger restaurant, nightclub or outdoor space.<\/p>\n

In this lookbook, we take a look at unique booth designs from Japan<\/a> to Australia<\/a> that keep people on their feet.<\/p>\n

Unveiled, USA, by Studio MBM<\/a>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

A semi-circular VIP area is tucked behind this metallic DJ booth in Unveiled, a nightclub<\/a> located in the basement of the William Vale hotel in Williamsburg<\/a>, Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

Bathed in blue lighting, the booth features a smooth, mirrored cladding, while the surrounding dancefloor walls are clad in a hammered metal.<\/p>\n

JAM Record Bar,\u00a0 Australia, by Akin Atelier<\/a>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

This bar in Sydney<\/a> was designed to evoke Tokyo’s mid-century listening bars, complete with walls lined with a collection of 15,000 vinyl records.<\/p>\n

The small DJ booth is tucked into a nook at the end of the bar, and like the rest of the interior, is clad in pink plywood.<\/p>\n

Oven, Spain, by Clap Studio<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

As its name suggests, the Oven techno club in\u00a0Valencia<\/a> was designed to feel like an oven, featuring red and black Alpi wood walls with a rippled burl pattern that climbs up the interior.<\/p>\n

Other surfaces, such as the central DJ booth, were clad in stainless steel<\/a> to reflect the club’s warm-toned lighting.<\/p>\n

The Nursery at Public Records, USA, by Mattaforma<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Brooklyn<\/a> music venue Public Records<\/a> recently expanded its Gowanus complex with the Nursery, an outdoor music venue that has a DJ booth tucked into a shipping container.<\/p>\n

The booth’s minimal interior design was led by local studio Space Exploration, while the two, large, teal speakers that flank it were designed by audio studio OJAS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bursa Bar, Ukraine, by Nastia Mirzoyan<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This wood-lined hotel<\/a> bar is located on the ground floor of the boutique Bursa Hotel in Kyiv<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Its DJ booth stands towards the back and is clad in the same dark wood of the surrounding restaurant, while a mossy green, latticed ceiling was installed to improve acoustics.<\/p>\n

Supernova, USA, by Mutuus Studio<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

This Seattle nightclub was built around a huge disco ball DJ booth measuring eight feet (2.4 metres) in diameter.<\/p>\n

Covered in mirrored tiles, the booth conceals a semicircle desk for the DJ’s equipment.<\/p>\n

Koganeyu, Japan, by Schemata Architects<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Schemata Architects added a central bar to this 1980s bathhouse<\/a> in Tokyo<\/a> as part of a modernisation aimed at attracting new visitors.<\/p>\n

The bar was designed to convert into a DJ booth so the room can be used as an events space.<\/p>\n

Side A, USA, by Studio Ahead<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

A custom aluminium<\/a> DJ booth stands next to the bar in this San Francisco<\/a> restaurant in front of a wall of vinyl records.<\/p>\n

“Our intent was for design, music, and the culinary arts to come together in a hub for the creatives of the neighbourhood,” said Studio Ahead<\/a> co-founder Elena Dendiberi.<\/p>\n
