Trey Nyoni<\/a> and Jayden Danns<\/a> and two more academy players look likely to be involved for Liverpool\u2019s senior team against Southampton<\/a> on Tuesday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reds trade Premier League<\/a> action for League Cup<\/a> commitments in midweek, playing at Anfield in a third round clash.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot<\/a> is expected to ring the changes for Liverpool, having already confirmed that Virgil van Dijk<\/a>, Ibrahima Konate<\/a>, Ryan Gravenberch<\/a>, Dominik Szoboszlai<\/a> and Mohamed Salah<\/a> won\u2019t play on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Experienced heads such as Joe Gomez<\/a>, Wataru Endo<\/a> and Federico Chiesa<\/a> are set to start instead for the Reds, but opportunities should also arise for youngsters.<\/p>\n

\"LIVERPOOL,<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Nyoni<\/strong> and Danns<\/strong> were not part of Liverpool U21s\u2019 squad to face Man United<\/a> in Premier League<\/a> 2, hinting at them being involved on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Both have played a part in the competition in the past, making a combined four appearances in it.<\/p>\n

Nyoni\u2019s last appearance for Liverpool\u2019s first team came in the FA Cup<\/a> loss to Plymouth back in January, while Danns started away to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League<\/a> that same month.<\/p>\n

Also absent from the under-21s\u2019 match on Sunday were Tommy Pilling<\/strong> and Kieran Morrison<\/strong>, so they should be involved in some capacity at Anfield on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kaide Gordon<\/a><\/strong> also didn\u2019t play for the under-21s on Sunday, but he won\u2019t necessarily face Southampton<\/a>, having not played for the senior team since February 2024.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, a weakened Liverpool XI will line up, with Slot saying after the derby: \u201cThe ones that played three times 90 [minutes] are Virgil, Ibou, Mo, Ryan and Dom \u2013 the ones that are used to this intensity and this level.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd again they showed up really good. I can tell you now you won\u2019t be seeing them on Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Record summer signings Florian Wirtz<\/a> and Alexander Isak<\/a> may even feature, as they look to further adjust to their new club, while prodigious teenager Rio Ngumoha<\/a> is also expected to be a prominent figure.<\/p>\n
