A man has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted during an immigration protest in Glasgow city centre on Saturday afternoon<\/a>.<\/p>\n Crowds gathered in Buchanan Street on September 20, with hundreds of people turning out for demonstrations supporting and opposing immigration<\/a>.<\/p>\n A gathering was arranged by controversial podcaster John Watt who called for a ‘unity rally’<\/a> on the steps outside the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre.<\/p>\n However, Watt’s supporters were met with backlash as anti-racism<\/a> groups turned up.<\/p>\n The two sides were separated by a blockade of police officers<\/a> and metal railings.
