{"id":441709,"date":"2025-09-21T20:35:38","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T20:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/441709\/"},"modified":"2025-09-21T20:35:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T20:35:38","slug":"what-michael-nicholson-and-chris-mckay-did-in-the-stands-as-celtic-fans-displayed-a-protest-at-firhill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/441709\/","title":{"rendered":"What Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay did in the stands as Celtic fans displayed a protest at Firhill"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Celtic fans\u2019 protests continued towards the board on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the first set of dissatisfaction, anger and frustration were expressed during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/celtic-player-ratings-vs-kilmarnock-as-8-10-debutant-shines-but-5-10-summer-signing-must-do-more\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Celtic\u2019s win over Kilmarnock<\/a> last week, the second dose was unleashed at Firhill. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/brendan-rodgers-states-what-celtic-board-now-understand-about-sebastian-tounekti-after-partick-win\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Celtic thrashed Partick Thistle 4-0<\/a> to book their semi-final ticket in the League Cup \u2013 and a meeting with Rangers at Hampden \u2013 as further protests took place, with board members present in the stands, just like they were at Rugby Park.<\/p>\n<p>And the cameras captured what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/michael-nicholson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Nicholson<\/a> and Chris McKay were doing in that moment. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"706\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2231656301-1024x706.jpg\" alt=\"Celtic board members Peter Lawwell and Michael Nicholson are seen during the Premier League match between Celtic and Livingston at Celtic Park\" class=\"wp-image-309328\" \/>Photo by Ian MacNicol\/Getty ImagesWhat Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay did as Celtic fans staged a protest at Firhill<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Celtic<\/a> fans held up cards with the faces of various board members, including Peter Lawwell, with stop signs over their faces. <\/p>\n<p>This happened before kick-off, but they were purposely held up minutes before the players came out of the tunnel. <\/p>\n<p>But as the Premier Sports cameras panned towards the directors\u2019 box, Nicholson and McKay could be seen on their phones and clearly trying to avoid what was happening in front of them. <\/p>\n<p>What Premier Sports said about Celtic\u2019s protests <\/p>\n<p>With this being a League Cup game, Premier Sports were the host broadcasters, as they covered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/how-much-celtic-have-paid-in-tax-over-the-last-ten-years-as-mammoth-figures-revealed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Celtic protests<\/a> before, during and after the match.<\/p>\n<p>Host Emma Dodds noticed how the likes of Nicholson were \u2018not looking up\u2019, as fans voiced their frustrations once more. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Dodds:<\/strong> \u201cThis is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/celtic-are-one-of-the-best-run-football-clubs-in-europe-says-hugh-keevins-on-annual-accounts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Celtic protest in full flow<\/a>. You have to say, the printers in Glasgow trade between yesterday and today. There are protests all over the place.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere they are, just some of the Celtic board members.
