A father and son took it upon themselves to tackle an \u201copen bin\u201d in their backyard after years of it being used as a dumping ground.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nelson and Jacob Shardey, from Seacombe, with the help of others in their community have tried to clear a barren patch of land next to their home on Borough Road. Nelson is a long-standing figure in the local community having run a newsagents there for years.<\/p>\n

Council aiming for Grange Road works to be finished by Christmas<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Work is being done to reopen a high street by Christmas after a year and a half of disruptive road works, Wirral Council has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grange Road in Birkenhead town centre has been dominated by construction work for over a year as part of a regeneration scheme of the wider town centre. The scheme was intended to \u201cimprove the look and feel of these areas\u201d but the project has been slammed due to delays and disruption.<\/p>\n

Initial works to create a brand new \u00a315m park in Wirral may not be far away. The new green space is part of a major project that would also see 1,600 homes built.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Dock Branch Park is a regeneration project being delivered by Wirral Council, looking to transform a former railway line that cuts through central Birkenhead from Green Lane to Wirral Waters.<\/p>\n

Presented by Port Sunlight Village Trust and award-winning Wirral chocolatier The Chocolate Cellar, the Sugar & Spice Festival will be open to explore on Saturday 4 October, 11am\u20134pm. It will take over the beautiful Diamond landscaped park opposite Port Sunlight Museum in the centre of the village.<\/p>\n

The Wirral Poetry Festival returns to Port Sunlight for the fourth year with a weekend full of activities on 4 and 5 October.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be free events in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, including a children\u2019s workshop and a poetry tour. Wirral Waters is set to see a \u00a316m investment as plans go in for major changes that could see hundreds of jobs created.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peel Waters said it had submitted three planning applications to Wirral Council to move plans forward to regenerate more of the Wirral docks in Birkenhead. Wirral Waters is a long-term project to completely transform the area with new jobs and homes.<\/p>\n

Plans for new Wirral parking charges \u2018pushed back\u2019<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Plans for new charges for 22 free car parks in Wirral are understood to have been pushed back in an \u201cunexpected Christmas gift for shoppers\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In September 2024, the local authority announced a plan to introduce charges at 22 car parks and on roads in three coastal areas where they are currently free. These proposals were later approved by Labour and Green councillors despite major public opposition.<\/p>\n

Aldi, which is the UK\u2019s cheapest supermarket, has announced plans to bring a new store to Champions Business Park at the junction of Arrowe Brook Road and Arrowe Park Road in Upton.<\/p>\n
