Fleetwood Mac<\/a> have responded to recent reports that they would be reuniting to perform at J.K. Rowling<\/a>\u2019s 60th birthday party.<\/p>\n

The band have not played together since a children\u2019s hospital benefit concert in San Francisco in November 2019<\/a>, and it has been widely thought that any chance of a reunion was unlikely due to Christine McVie\u2019s passing in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, a report in the Daily Mail<\/a> on Saturday (September 20) suggested that the Harry Potter author was planning on hiring them to play at her two-day 60th birthday party later this year.<\/p>\n

Representatives for the band were quick to respond to the speculation, telling Rolling Stone<\/a> that \u201cthis is categorically false\u201d and even stating that it is \u201cnot in the realm of true\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

In April 2018, it was announced that Lindsey Buckingham had been dismissed from the band<\/a> following what was described as \u201ca disagreement over the band\u2019s upcoming tour\u201d. They went on to tour without him in 2018 and 2019, with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers<\/a>\u2019 Mike Campbell and\u00a0Crowded House<\/a>\u2019s Neil Finn filling in for Buckingham.<\/p>\n

Following the end of that tour, the band became dormant, and after McVie\u2019s death in 2022, Stevie Nicks said there was \u201cno chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together\u201d without her<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Mick Fleetwood said in 2023 that he believed \u201cthe line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris\u201d<\/a>, although he did add: \u201cBut then we\u2019ve all said that before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even if a Fleetwood Mac reunion does not appear to be on the cards, Nicks and Buckingham fuelled fresh speculation this month about a possible reunion of their Buckingham Nicks duo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Just weeks after confirming the re-release of their self-titled 1973 album<\/a>,\u00a0the former\u00a0bandmates shared a joint Instagram post on September 5 that featured an old clip of the two onstage.<\/p>\n

In the video, Nicks sings the opening lyrics of their 1973 track \u2018Frozen Love\u2019: \u201cYou may not be as strong as me, and I may not care to teach you.\u201d She then trails off before laughing: \u201cThat\u2019s all I remember.\u201d Their latest post was captioned: \u201cWe remember the rest now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0Stevie Nicks has said she\u2019s working on a new album, saying it was made up of \u201creal stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n
