At 78-years-old, Trump was the oldest man to ever be elected US president<\/a>. On what we\u2019re sure is an unrelated note, he posted what looks like a private message to his Truth Social platform on 20 September:<\/p>\n

It just keeps getting more insane.<\/p>\n

Trump apparently tried to send a DM to Pam Bondi essentially telling her that his enemies need to be prosecuted. Instead he posted it on Truth Social, and it\u2019s now been deleted. pic.twitter.com\/URZq7mIvVq<\/a><\/p>\n

If this were discovered in a leaked email and published in the New York Times, it might get more attention. But Trump just tweets it out, and most people move on with their day. Trump VS free speech<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Canary has covered Trump\u2019s crackdown on free speech<\/a>, which has seen the US targeting activists, media figures, and ordinary members of the public. This crackdown may be evident in how media outlets have covered his latest message to Bondi. Most seem reluctant to accuse Trump of posting the message by accident, although\u00a0Politico did hint at it here<\/a> (emphasis added):<\/p>\n

It was a remarkable public message<\/strong> to the nation\u2019s top law enforcement officer, linking his personal grievances over his own criminal prosecutions and congressional impeachments to a potential decision by federal prosecutors to level criminal charges against his adversaries. Trump\u2019s frustration stemmed in part, he said, from \u201c30 statements and posts\u201d from allies that complained \u201cnothing is being done\u201d to punish his longtime rivals.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Trump has given the media good reason to tread carefully, as he\u2019s launched lawsuits against ABC News,\u00a0CBS, and the\u00a0New York Times, with the first two settling for millions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n

This is what authoritarianism is about: government silencing dissenting voices.<\/p>\n

Too many people have fought and died to defend freedom. We won\u2019t let Trump take it away.<\/p>\n

A judge has now thrown out the New York Times case<\/a>, stating:<\/p>\n

a complaint remains an improper and impermissible place for the tedious and burdensome aggregation of prospective evidence, for the rehearsal of tendentious arguments, or for the protracted recitation and explanation of legal authority putatively supporting the pleader\u2019s claim for relief.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We have no idea what this means either, but presumably it translates to \u2018case no good\u2019. The following is a bit easier to understand at least:<\/p>\n

Crack down<\/p>\n

Of course, the big story isn\u2019t that Trump is seemingly too old to text; it\u2019s that he\u2019s launching an authoritarian crackdown because \u2018posters\u2019 accused him of being \u201call talk, no action\u201d.<\/p>\n

We agree with Trump that \u201cJUSTICE MUST BE SERVED\u201d; we just don\u2019t think he has any idea of what that would look like in practice.<\/p>\n
