Mandy Jamieson, 55, from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/woolton\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"WooltonLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Woolton<\/a>, is the mum of Daniel Gee-Jamieson, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/i-am-living-life-sentence-25928518\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"who died after he was stabbedLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">who died after he was stabbed<\/a> at a park just off Belle Vale Road in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/gateacre\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"GateacreLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Gateacre<\/a> in July 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Daniel was just 16 when he <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/knife-crime\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"bled to deathLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">bled to death<\/a> following a pre-arranged &#8220;straightener&#8221;. The teenager was unarmed but was <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/tragic-teen-daniel-gee-jamieson-15979526\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"stabbed in the leg in front of dozens of onlookersLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">stabbed in the leg in front of dozens of onlookers<\/a>. Owen Cousins was later found guilty of manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Cousins claimed he was forced to fight Danny and stabbed him in self-defence when he attacked him with a knife. None of the five teenage witnesses to the fight on The Nook said they saw Daniel with a weapon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy spoke to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"ECHOLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">ECHO<\/a> ahead of a yearly event at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/st-georges-hall\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"St George\u2019s HallLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">St George\u2019s Hall<\/a> on Friday to remember victims of serious violence. The heartbroken mum, who later set up the charity Danny\u2019s Place, said the aftermath of what happened to Daniel never goes away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy said: \u201cDaniel was funny. He has a really good sense of humour. Don&#8217;t get me wrong, Daniel wasn&#8217;t an angel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cBut he wasn&#8217;t a bad kid. He had ADHD, Asperger\u2019s and he was profoundly deaf in his left ear. He still didn&#8217;t deserve to die and I just don&#8217;t want another mother to have to go through what we go through on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cBecause of that, I have set up Danny&#8217;s Place, which is an organisation which delivers talks on how the ripple effect of knife crime affects families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cPeople don&#8217;t realise that, they just see what happened in the paper. They don&#8217;t see the aftermath of everything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cMy son dies every morning. And so before I can do anything, I have to deal with Daniel first. It\u2019s not easy doing what we do, but I just don&#8217;t want anyone else to have to go through it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">During the trial, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/bully-told-stabbing-victim-danny-15802244\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"the court heard that friends of both parties had told police they thought Daniel wanted to fight CousinsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the court heard that friends of both parties had told police they thought Daniel wanted to fight Cousins<\/a> because he had been bullied by him and a friend, referred to in court as Boy B.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy says that, from the age of 12, Daniel was bullied by a gang of youths on the local estate which had a massive impact on him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy said: \u201cThey sold drugs on their bikes and because Daniel wouldn&#8217;t sell for them &#8211; he had his own set of friends at that stage &#8211; they made his life hell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cThey set fire to his hair, he couldn\u2019t even get off the bus. It had a really bad effect on his mental health.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">This led to a chain of events culminating in the fight between Daniel and Cousins. There was no truce after Daniel\u2019s death either.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_JS193284131.jpg\" alt=\"Daniel Gee-Jamieson died in hospital after he was stabbed during a fight on July 3 2018\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Daniel Gee-Jamieson died in hospital after he was stabbed during a fight on July 3 2018(Image: Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">As the<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/bullies-burned-shrine-teenage-boy-16839792\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" ECHO reported Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> ECHO reported <\/a>previously, tributes to the amateur boxer were set on fire, scrambler bikes disrupted his funeral procession and threats made by a hammer-wielding gang led to four children being prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy said: \u201cAt that time, I\u2019d had four years of them persecuting my child. They were just vile &#8211; no conscience, nothing. On the day of my child\u2019s funeral, they were at the top of my road waving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy says parents and the wider community need to take responsibility in tackling this behaviour, which includes reporting incidents to Merseyside Police or anonymously via Crimestoppers. She said: \u201cCommunities need to stand up to them. It takes a village to raise a child.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cWe need to take our communities back from these kids because if we don&#8217;t, this is going to get worse. They&#8217;re going to then have their own children and install the same mindset to their children.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cThey haven&#8217;t been through what I&#8217;ve been through. They don&#8217;t understand why I feel this way about it because they&#8217;ve never lived it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_Mandy-Jamieson-from-Gateacre-holding-a-photograph-of-her-son-Daniel-Gee-Jamiesonwho-was-stabbed-to.webp\" alt=\"Tributes for Daniel after his death in 2018\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Tributes for Daniel after his death in 2018(Image: LIVERPOOL ECHO)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cIf they don&#8217;t deal with this now, they&#8217;ll be in the same position as what myself and the other families of victims from Liverpool are in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The event on Friday was supported by Liverpool City Council\u2019s Culture Liverpool and Safer Stronger Communities teams, and St George\u2019s Hall will be bathed in purple light to mark the event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Last year, the Liverpool Community Safety Partnership \u2013 known locally as Citysafe \u2013 launched a \u2018Serious Violence Reduction Plan\u2019 to tackle the issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">A number of projects set up to disrupt organised crime and encourage young people to make the right choices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Examples include the EVOLVE partnership in Dovecot, Yew Tree and parts of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/knowsley\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Knowsley<\/a>, and Everton, funded by the Home Office, which has led to thousands of arrests, millions of pounds worth of cash, assets and drugs being seized, many weapons and firearms being taken off the streets, and falls in crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Speaking ahead of Friday&#8217;s event, Mandy insisted it would be a \u201ccelebration of life\u201d rather than a memorial, with contemporary dance performances and people affected by serious violence coming from as far as Newcastle to help out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Mandy said: \u201cIt&#8217;s just a lovely night and I&#8217;m so proud of it. Doing Danny&#8217;s place is a form of counselling for me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cI am proud to speak about my child. I believe he deserves to be spoken about and it gives me strength.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cThat&#8217;s what Friday night is about.
