Mother Nature truly goes all out during the autumn months. Temperatures may be dropping and the days are shortening, yet there\u2019s so much beauty to be found during this season.<\/p>\n

Trees are transformed as leaves change colour, shiny conkers can be found on the ground like little jewels and misty mornings add a sense of magic to proceedings.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s actually a brilliant time of year to explore the countryside on foot; summer can be too hot and winter\u2019s chilly conditions can be unbearable. Autumn is a pleasant inbetween.<\/p>\n

There are so many incredible walks<\/a> you can do right here in the UK and PA news agency has rounded up some of the best – one of which is on our doorstep here in Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n

They recommend Beeston Crag in Cheshire<\/a>, a 6km loop which begins at Beeston Castle.<\/p>\n

Built in the 1220s, Beeston Castle sits on a sandstone crag above the Cheshire Plain and has incredible views across eight counties.<\/p>\n

The walk (for which you should allow three to three and a half hours) explores ancient landscapes, taking in the Peckforton Hills and Peckforton Mere.<\/p>\n

The spectacular views from Beeston Castle are a backdrop to the changing colours of autumn, while Grade I listed Peckforton Castle is recognised by English Heritage as \u2018one of the great buildings of its age\u2019, a Victorian replica of a medieval castle.<\/p>\n

Starting at the castle, the route takes you towards Peckforton Castle and through Peckforton Woods. It then looks past Stanner Nab, a sandstone hill, and then past Peckforton Mere, before looping back to Beeston Castle. More details can be found on the Visit Cheshire website.<\/p>\n
