He allegedly wanted the toast to be direct hits at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who currently live in the United States, after stepping down from their duties as senior royals in 2020. However, the president settled for a more polished version instead.<\/p>\n<p>A source claimed that Trump wanted to make direct hits at Harry and Markle, as the first draft of his speech surfaced. He had reportedly aimed at portraying the Sussexes as \u201copportunists,\u201d with one political aide describing his words as \u201cbrutal.\u201d They further opined that it would have become a hot topic of discussion across the world for weeks if the politician actually spoke his words out loud.<\/p>\n<p>However, advisors counseled Trump against giving the speech with scathing remarks about Harry and Markle. They reportedly warned him about the veiled attacks overshadowing the State Banquet. Instead, an insider alleged that they focused on freezing Harry and Markle \u201cout of the spotlight,\u201d claiming that \u201cit worked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shuter shared the leaked passages from Trump\u2019s original remarks, which read that those who \u201cmarry into this family should respect its traditions, not profit from attacking it,\u201d regarding the duchess.
