{"id":443012,"date":"2025-09-22T09:58:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T09:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/443012\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T09:58:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T09:58:19","slug":"prince-harry-told-by-king-charles-he-cannot-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/443012\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Harry \u2018told by King Charles he cannot be\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During his return to the country for charity work earlier this month, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/duke-of-sussex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Duke of Sussex<\/a> met with his father King <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/charles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles<\/a> for the first time in 19 months.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/prince-harry-king-charles-reunion-royal-family-b2824438.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He spent around 55 minutes at Clarence House<\/a> having a \u201cprivate tea\u201d with the monarch, whose relationship with his youngest son has been strained since his departure as a working royal in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>However, any suggestion that the prince could return in a more formal capacity has been rejected by palace sources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe King has been absolutely clear in upholding his late mother\u2019s decision that there can be no \u201chalf-in, half-out\u201d public role for members of the family,\u201d a royal source told The Times. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SEI265511297.jpeg\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"\/>Prince Harry arriving at Clarence House to meet his father (AFP\/Getty)<\/p>\n<p>It is understood that Harry is not seeking such an arrangement, and is happy with his life in California with his wife Meghan, and their two children Archie and Lilibet. <\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Harry told The Times: \u201cThe duke has made it clear that the focus has to be on his dad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeyond that, and on any other issues as it relates to his family, we won\u2019t be commenting.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>During an interview with the BBC in May, after he lost his High Court appeal to have his security reinstated, the prince said he \u201cwould love\u201d to reconcile with his family. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SEI265379834.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"\/>The Duke of Sussex made a personal \u00a31.1m donation to Children in Need (Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cI don\u2019t know how much longer my father has. He won\u2019t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>He last saw the King during a brief visit in February 2024, after the 76-year-old announced his cancer diagnosis. <\/p>\n<p>The Mail on Sunday has now reported that Buckingham Palace and the Sussex staff are \u201ctentatively discussing\u201d a thawing between the pair, which could see them \u201cappearing jointly at a public event\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>This could include the King potentially appearing at the Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1758535099_793_Britains-Prince-Harry-poses-for-a-picture-with-wounded-Ukrainian-serviceman-Vasyl.jpeg\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"\/>He also travelled to Ukraine to boost morale of injured servicemen (REUTERS)<\/p>\n<p>During his recent four-day trip to the UK, Harry attended the WellChild Awards of which he is a patron, and made a \u00a31.1m personal donation to Children in Need during an event in Nottingham. <\/p>\n<p>He then flew to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine<\/a> where his Invictus Games Foundation is helping the recovery and rehabilitation of thousands of veterans who have suffered life-changing injuries during the war. <\/p>\n<p>In an interview with The Guardian, who accompanied him on the trip, he said his \u201cconscience was clear\u201d when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/prince-harry-spare-book-william-b2826512.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked about his criticism of the monarchy. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI don\u2019t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible.
