It was run by former taxi driver Dominic Eastland, who had worked at Edna’s Kitchen at Castle Park – another falafel place at the time.

At time of opening in 2023, Dominic was running SunRa singlehandedly and said that business was ‘unpredictable’, with some days being a lot busier than others. Over the years, many a customer has dubbed the food here some of the best vegan food in the city, with SunRa’s Middle Eastern wraps, pittas, salad boxes, loaded fries and sweet treats getting a shoutout from diners.

Dom has been referred to in social media comments as being a ‘legend’ and serving up some of the ‘freshest’ and ‘best looking’ food around. And it is not yet known if a new owner will continue the SunRa business, or rebrand and transform the space into something new. When BristolLive visited on September 22, the food spot was closed up.

The sign written on the door of SunRa in Bedminster (September 2025)(Image: BristolLive)

This won’t be the first time this tiny unit in Bedminster closes and reopens.
