\n\tLast week, the monarch had his most high-profile event since his coronation \u2014 President Donald Trump came for his second state visit. While the royal family<\/a> is supposed to stay out of the political fray, Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s protocols seem to have fallen by the waysid<\/a>e. With so much at stake between the U.S. and the U.K., King Charles reportedly had a big request for his youngest son.<\/p>\n

\n\tEveryone knows that the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, are headline generators wherever they go; that\u2019s why Charles wanted his son \u201cto keep a low profile during Donald Trump\u2019s visit as a goodwill gesture to his father.\u201d According to the Daily Mail,<\/a> Prince Harry \u201cagreed\u201d to the request.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe point was for Harry to \u201cavoid any publicity which would distract from President Trump\u2019s visit.\u201d Per the U.K. media outlet, \u201cthe Sussex royal household were given two days off to coincide with the trip and Harry ensured he did not carry out any engagements at home or abroad, and was not photographed at his home in Montecito, California.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ongoing feud has often led to the Sussexes and the royal family trying to one-up each other in the press. Most recently, Prince William and Kate Middleton suddenly had a jam-packed schedule<\/a> the moment the Duke of Sussex arrived in the U.K. for the WellChild Awards in early September. (And yes, the Sussexes have done the same to the royal family \u2014\u00a0it\u2019s a two-way street with this issue.)<\/p>\n

\n\tIn July, when the royal peace talks were first revealed, one of the hot topics was about \u201cdeconflicting\u201d the family situation. The Daily Mail<\/a> reported that one of Harry\u2019s big olive branches<\/a> included \u201cdrawing up a \u2018grid\u2019 of his activities and sharing them with Buckingham Palace, and by extension with Kensington Palace\u201d so there were fewer conflicting engagements. \u201c\u2026If the Royal Family have full sight of his movements they can at least plan accordingly. It\u2019s a significant gesture,\u201d a palace insider said.<\/p>\n

\n\tHarry and Meghan abided by the king\u2019s wishes as they stayed out of sight until after Donald Trump returned to the U.S. It was a crucial moment for Charles and Harry, but indirectly, also for his estranged brother, William.<\/p>\n
