Based on consumption during the trip, the truck could have completed the journey on a single charge, demonstrating the viability of EVs for long-distance commercial transport.

The continental journey followed an earlier pilot at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where the team used three eActros 600 trucks to transport all cars and supporting equipment. The electric trucks distinguished the Mercedes team from competitors who relied on diesel-powered transportation at Zandvoort.

“Our work is powered by a team of people who are passionate about shaping a better future – one where performance and purpose go hand in hand on our journey to become one of the most sustainable global professional sports teams,” said Alice Ashpitel, Head of Sustainability for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. “As a team, our commitment to sustainability means that we rethink how we move, not just how we race.”

The initiative forms part of the team’s broader sustainability efforts. Since 2022, Mercedes F1 has used HVO100, a second-generation biofuel, to power its trucks and generators, which saved more than 500 tonnes of emissions during last year’s race season.

The eActros 600, named International Truck of the Year 2025, features a 600kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery providing a minimum range of 500 kilometers per charge. The vehicle can charge from 20% to 80% capacity in 25 minutes using the megawatt charging system.

“We are continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible with battery electric trucks,” said Ash Armstrong, eConsultancy Manager at Daimler Truck UK. “Our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team is key in demonstrating that sustainable, long-haul distribution has arrived with our eActros 600.”

Armstrong emphasized the significance of the achievement: “We could not be more thrilled that one of our eActros 600 trucks has been used to transport the team’s W16 cars from Brackley to Zandvoort. We are extremely proud to showcase the impressive range and capability of this truck.”

The successful journey addresses range concerns that have historically limited electric truck adoption for long-distance applications. Formula One’s demanding logistics requirements, including precise timing and valuable cargo, provided a rigorous test case for ECV technology in professional sports operations.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has become the first Formula One team to complete a long-haul journey using…

[4103
4199,707,4200,79,16,15
0":"post-443844","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-f1","8":"tag-f1","9":"tag-formula-1","10":"tag-formula1","11":"tag-sports","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
