Copenhagen Airport has halted all traffic after drones were ‘spotted nearby’, stopping all planes from landing or taking off.<\/p>\n

The airport is closed after between two and four ‘large’ drones were sighted in the area, a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

All take-offs and landings at Copenhagen Airport were suspended as of 8.26pm local time (18:26 GMT) due to drone reports, according to a post by FlightRadar on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At least 35 flights had been diverted to other airports.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the airport confirmed that all traffic had been halted but declined to comment further.<\/p>\n

Passenger Mikael Belstrup told Danish news outlet\u00a0TV 2 <\/a>he was on a flight from Amsterdam to Copenhagen which was diverted to Billund.<\/p>\n

He said: ‘We were told that Copenhagen Airport was closed due to drones and that the staff didn’t know anything. We are still in the plane and they are refueling it so we have the opportunity to come back if or when the airport opens.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Airport told local media BT<\/a> that the drone sighting was ‘unusual’.<\/p>\n

Police said that between two and four ‘large’ drones had been sighted in the area<\/p>\n

She said: ‘It’s procedure that you can neither take off nor land, and you still can’t.’<\/p>\n

‘The police are investigating the matter, until they have more information, the airspace is closed.’<\/p>\n

‘We hope that passengers can soon depart safely and land safely.’<\/p>\n

The airport was previously closed in January for almost two hours following a drone sighting.<\/p>\n

Two people have also been arrested in Oslo after drones were spotted near the airport.<\/p>\n

The two incidents are not believed to be linked.\u00a0<\/p>\n
