Tributes have been paid to a beloved homeless man who has sadly passed away. Flowers and heartfelt messages have been left outside a row of shops in Wythenshawe<\/a> where Christopher Fudge, known locally as Chris, would frequent.<\/p>\n

The tributes were stuck to a post outside the row of shops on Greenbrow Road. According to locals, he had been in the area for around five years.<\/p>\n

Along with the flowers, sombre notes were written on a piece of cardboard wrapped around the pole to commemorate Chris.<\/p>\n

One message reads: “You were such a nice man, an angel sent from heaven.” While another said: “Hope you have a nice time in heaven with your mum and brother.”<\/p>\n

Chris, was the brother of James Murray, who sadly died when he was stabbed in the chest in 2024<\/a>. Speaking to the M.E.N, a member of the public who spoke to Chris often, said: “He was such a lovely man, he was always there and never left.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been crying all night thinking about him. I’ve been thinking ‘maybe I should have done more, maybe I should have taken him in’<\/p>\n

“I saw him everyday and we always had a chat. He was so loved and used to mind people’s dogs when they went into the shops.<\/p>\n

\"TributesTributes were left for Chris who was well regarded in the community <\/p>\n

“He had a lot of hardship in his life and people tried to give him advice to go into rehab or something, but he always said ‘I don’t want to leave Wythenshawe’.”I think he saw us as his family.”Another person told the M.E.N: “He was an absolute gentleman. Last time I saw him was on Tuesday when he came down to my house, he seemed alright and was playing around with my dog.<\/p>\n

“He was alright, and I gave him a lift back here. He would never ask for money and sometimes he’d even pay me back.<\/p>\n

“It’s really gutting.<\/p>\n

A woman who would speak to Chris with her child said: “He was just a lovely person. He was always leaning against that post.<\/p>\n

“Even though he had his own circumstances he would try and make you feel better.<\/p>\n

“We loved Chris.”<\/p>\n

Another person added: “He never minded anybody for money but people generally gave him things. Chris just stood there and would talk to people.
