Alex de Minaur played a key role in Team World\u2019s victory at the Laver Cup, going unbeaten at the three-day event. <\/strong><\/p>\n

On day two of the tournament, de Minaur defeated world number three Alexander Zverev<\/a> before emerging triumphant in doubles alongside Alex Michelsen in the night session. <\/p>\n

The Australian then clinched an important three points for Team World on the final day of the Laver Cup<\/a> with his straight-sets win over Jakub Mensik. <\/p>\n

He became the player with the joint-most wins from his country in the competition\u2019s history, equalling Nick Kyrgios<\/a>\u2018 tally of four. <\/p>\n

De Minaur<\/a> helped his side, led by captain Andre Agassi<\/a>, win their third Laver Cup in four years. <\/p>\n

Reacting to his performances, former US Open champion Andy Roddick<\/a> said of the world number eight: \u201cWe get into the laziness sometimes of \u2018okay, he\u2019s not as big as everyone else and he\u2019s really fast, so that must mean he\u2019s a purely defensive player.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cNo. Alex de Minaur\u2019s shot shape is flat, it\u2019s through the court, it stays low. That\u2019s his superpower, ball flight. But he\u2019s able to come in, as evidenced by doubles. He comes in a lot in singles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re listening to any commentary and they\u2019re like, \u2018well, de Minaur is just a counterpuncher\u2019, they haven\u2019t watched enough of his matches.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guy is so capable from all parts of the court. Now, if we compare anyone to Carlos, then there are deficiencies, right?<\/p>\n

Alex de Minaur\u2019s up-and-down North American hard-court swing<\/p>\n

De Minaur\u2019s time in North America has come to an end following the conclusion of the Laver Cup, and he will now get his Asian swing underway. <\/p>\n

His stateside hard-court swing has been an up-and-down one, which started with a title at the Washington Open; his first of the season. <\/p>\n

He managed to reach the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open, but crashed out in his opening match in Cincinnati to Laver Cup teammate Reilly Opelka. <\/p>\n
