{"id":44588,"date":"2025-04-23T19:07:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-23T19:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/44588\/"},"modified":"2025-04-23T19:07:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T19:07:10","slug":"london-marathon-2025-start-time-how-to-watch-live-as-olympic-triathlon-superstar-alex-yee-tackles-iconic-race-elite-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/44588\/","title":{"rendered":"London Marathon 2025: Start time, how to watch live as Olympic triathlon superstar Alex Yee tackles ICONIC race &#8211; Elite News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Olympic triathlon champion <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathletes\/alex-yee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Yee<\/a><\/strong> makes the switch to single sport competition as he takes on the 2025 TCS London Marathon alongside some of the world\u2019s greatest long-distance runners.<\/p>\n<p>Four-time winner <strong>Eliud Kipchoge <\/strong>(KEN) and new half marathon world record holder \u00a0<strong>Jacob Kiplimo<\/strong>\u00a0(UGA) are the standout names up against Alex in the men\u2019s field, with <strong>Sifan Hassan <\/strong>(NED) and <strong>Tigst Assefa <\/strong>(ETH) expected to duel in the women\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow British triathlete <strong>Hugo Milner<\/strong> will also be on the start line as a pacemaker \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathlon-news\/elite\/hugo-milner-pacing-role-london-marathon-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he is scheduled to lead some of the elite runners through the first half of the marathon in 64 minutes<\/a>, but it is <a class=\"btl_autolink_hyperlink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathletes\/alex-yee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yee<\/a> who is the star name from a triathlon perspective competing in the race.<\/p>\n<p>Start time and how to watch live<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btl_autolink_hyperlink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathletes\/alex-yee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yee<\/a> will be part of the elite men\u2019s group that will lead over 56,000 amateur runners at 9:35am local time. Prior to the mass start, the elite wheelchair athletes will begin their race at 8:50am, with the elite women\u2019s start taking place at 9:05am.<\/p>\n<p>Across the globe, the men\u2019s race will begin at 9:35am in London, 10:35am in central Europe, 4:35am Eastern and 1:35am Western in North America.<\/p>\n<p>BBC is the regular domestic broadcaster of the race, with live coverage available on BBC One and iPlayer throughout the day. In the United States, ESPN2 and ESPN3 will carry the race, and there is also the official London Marathon app which will allow family members to track individual runners.<\/p>\n<p>The London Marathon course<\/p>\n<p>The TCS London Marathon starts in Blackheath and ends at The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace, one of the most iconic finishes imaginable.<\/p>\n<p>The route takes in many of London\u2019s most famous landmarks, including Tower Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>It is relatively flat and actually a net downhill race \u2013 127 metres of \u2018climbing\u2019 and 162 metres of downhill.<\/p>\n<p>Yee takes on the ultimate test<\/p>\n<p>It has been well documented that <a class=\"btl_autolink_hyperlink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathletes\/alex-yee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yee<\/a> is using the start of the LA 2028 Olympic cycle to test himself in a different environment \u2013 he has produced a YouTube series detailing his attempt at the London Marathon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" alt=\"Alex Yee run palm trees Torremolinos WTCS Grand Final 2024 photo credit World Triathlon\" class=\"wp-image-85511 perfmatters-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Alex-Yee-run-palm-trees-Torremolinos-WTCS-Grand-Final-2024.jpg\"  data-\/><a class=\"btl_autolink_hyperlink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathletes\/alex-yee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Yee<\/a> on the way to the world title in Torremolinos [Photo credit: World Triathlon]<\/p>\n<p>And he admitted on the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xakquJt2fjA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paula\u2019s Marathon Run Club\u2019 podcast<\/a>, \u201cIt would have been very easy for me to be lost going into this year if I\u2019d just chased triathlon goals,\u201d highlighting that the London Marathon, a bucket list goal for the triathlon superstar for many years, is an exciting start to his 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p>The former British 10,000km champion certainly has the credentials to mix it with the big boys, and is eyeing a time just under the 2:10 mark for the 26.2-mile race.<\/p>\n<p>But one aspect of the run he needs to get right is his nutrition, and had discussed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tri247.com\/triathlon-news\/elite\/london-marathon-2025-alex-yee-triathlete-plan-fears\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">potential issues around drinks stations<\/a>. \u201cThat is one of my big fears at the moment, that experience is something I haven\u2019t experienced.
