The EES is the new digital border control system designed to replace manual passport stamping for non-EU travellers, including UK passport holders, entering the Schengen Area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">Following Brexit, the UK is no longer a member of the EU, so UK passport holders will have to undergo extra checks when travelling to the bloc, including having their fingerprints scanned. This will be followed by a \u20ac20 fee for a three-year pass called Etias, which is due to come into force in late 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">Research commissioned by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/co-operative-group\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Co-op Insurance<\/a> reveals that 15 million (29%) UK adults would be put off travel to Europe because of the EES, based on the 2,000 asked last week.
