{"id":446435,"date":"2025-09-23T18:14:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T18:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/446435\/"},"modified":"2025-09-23T18:14:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T18:14:13","slug":"pool-bar-and-cocktail-venue-closes-after-nine-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/446435\/","title":{"rendered":"Pool bar and cocktail venue closes after nine months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rack Em up offered a space for all ages before switching to an adult-focused atmosphere in the evening<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_Rack-Em-Up-Pool-BarSeel-StreetLiverpool-city-centrePic-Andrew-Teebay.jpg\" alt=\"Inside Rack Em Up on Seel Street\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Inside Rack Em Up on Seel Street(Image: Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">A family-friendly pool bar and cocktail venue has shut its doors nine months after opening.<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/gallery\/look-inside-new-basement-pool-30925702\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Rack Em Up<\/a>, located on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool-bars\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Seel Street<\/a>, was launched by couple Daniel Fox and Emma Henry, who aimed to create a warm, welcoming venue suitable for all ages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The bar took over the basement space previously home to the ball pit cocktail bar <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/gallery\/look-inside-new-basement-pool-30925702\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Ball Park<\/a>, officially opening on January 31. Following renovations, the space was fitted out with nine televisions, six pool tables, and several dartboards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Guests could enjoy a virtual darts experience that allowed players to take on opponents around the world through a live digital scoring system. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/gallery\/look-inside-new-basement-pool-30925702\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Rack Em Up<\/a> also held an on-site kitchen offering a classic sports bar menu with pizza, burgers, chips and wings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/gallery\/look-inside-new-basement-pool-30925702\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Rack Em Up<\/a> invited all ages to enjoy the space throughout the day until 9pm. The venue&#8217;s departure is the latest on the street after popular night life venue Peacock closed during the summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">However it wasn&#8217;t all bad news as the venue reopened as a traditional pub concept named Crooked Crown on August 15 It came after a major refurbishment allowing the pub to expand after its owners, Pub Invest Group, bought the former solicitors\u2019 office next door.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The venue is said to have \u201cthe look and feel of a classic pub\u201d to reflect the changes in the city\u2019s hospitality scene, with more people opting for venues with more of a \u201clocal vibe\u201d, according to the team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Hoggin&#8217;s at the Park, an open air venue on Seel Street, recently secured after opening hours to coincide with the Freshers rush. The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/business\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">business<\/a> previously requested a licence to trade in the venue previously known as &#8220;The Park&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1_Hoggins-at-the-Park-seel-street.jpg\" alt=\"Hoggin's at the Park is open until 3am\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Hoggin&#8217;s at the Park is open until 3am(Image: publicity picture)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">In doing so, the firm hoped to vary the existing premises licence alongside the name change to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/irish-pub-opening-third-site-31933427\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hoggin&#8217;s at the Park.<\/a> The owners successfully extended the license from the midnight to 3am last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">General manager Calum said: &#8220;We are pleased to announce we now have a later licence at Hoggins at the Park. With this now in place, we can now plan for new events and promotions at the site.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Speaking in June, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/irish-pub-opening-third-site-31933427\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hoggin\u2019s<\/a> officials said they felt Seel Street was &#8220;the perfect venue for us to expand the brand into the city centre&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Manager Chloe O&#8217;Brien said: &#8220;We are excited to bring our Hoggin&#8217;s brand into the vibrant city centre of Liverpool.
