\u201cThe chances of reaching a diplomatic solution before the sanctions go into effect are slim,\u201d German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul told reporters on Tuesday. \u201cIran must never obtain a nuclear weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n

But there was no sign of a compromise after the talks, according to a French diplomat.<\/p>\n

\u201cIran has not fulfilled the conditions but the talks will continue to explore all possibilities until the end,\u201d said the French official, who, like others quoted here, was granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive issue.<\/p>\n

The same diplomat said the ball was now \u201cin Iran\u2019s court\u201d ahead of a Saturday deadline when \u201csnapback\u201d sanctions will be imposed on the country.<\/p>\n

According the German foreign ministry, the Europeans urged Iran to \u201ctake practical steps within the next days, if not hours\u201d to address concerns about its nuclear program.<\/p>\n
