Alexander Isak reflected on the ‘amazing’ feeling of scoring his first Liverpool goal.<\/p>\n

The striker opened his account for the club in Tuesday night’s 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Southampton at Anfield. <\/p>\n

Isak started the scoring towards the end of the first half of the third-round tie, with Hugo Ekitike proving to be the match-winner with his late finish not long after Shea Charles’ equaliser.<\/p>\n

Speaking to ITV Sport post-match, the No.9 said: “Amazing. It was good to get back out there and score my first goal here, at Anfield. The win as well. So, it’s a good night. <\/p>\n

“I should have scored that one [the chance early on] as well, but that’s a part of being a striker \u2013 you miss some and then you score some. <\/p>\n

“I think the most important [thing] is to shake it off and to be ready for the next one. <\/p>\n

“I just try to play my game and not think too much. I feel confidence in myself that things will work out and that when I get my chances I’ll put them away \u2013 that’s my mindset. I’m happy that I put one away today.”<\/p>\n

Isak was handed his second start for the Reds in the clash against the Saints, playing 45 minutes before being withdrawn at the interval. <\/p>\n

With three appearances in the past week, the 26-year-old is benefiting from every outing when it comes to his sharpness.<\/p>\n

He said: “I feel good, I feel good. I think with every game I play it’s very helpful and gets me in better shape. I’m just getting more and more ready.”<\/p>\n

Asked how close he is to being 100 per cent fit, Isak replied: “It’s difficult to say. I think it’s a mixture of fitness-wise and also football-wise. I feel good, I feel like I’m in a shape to at least make a difference.”<\/p>\n
