In nearly two years on Vyse Street, Tranquil 1992<\/strong> has gained a loyal following serving authentic Vietnamese coffee<\/strong> from its modest venue. The independent caf\u00e9 has now made the bold step of moving into a larger, more prominent location in Birmingham\u2019s historic Jewellery Quarter<\/strong>\u2014and introduce this delicacy to even more Brummies.<\/p>\n

You see, Vietnamese coffee isn\u2019t just coffee from Vietnam. It uses more intensely flavoured robusta beans and condensed milk to sweeten it<\/strong>, to create something special. This isn\u2019t your average latte. And Tranquil 1992 is the only coffee house in Birmingham serving it.<\/p>\n

Thang Nguyen, Tranquil 1992 founder<\/strong>, said: \u201cSince we have experienced the demand for Vietnamese coffee and Uji matcha, we have decided to relocate to a bigger space in the main area of the Jewellery Quarter. Our new site is not only larger and more welcoming\u2014it also gives us the platform we need to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

What is Vietnamese coffee like? <\/p>\n

\"Tranquil<\/p>\n

Using robusta coffee beans<\/strong> from Vietnam, expect a stronger, darker and more earthy taste than you\u2019re average coffee. Drinks are handmade in a single-serving Vietnamese coffee press, known as a \u2018phin\u2019<\/strong>, which drips slowly into the glass over several minutes.<\/p>\n

C\u00e0 Ph\u00ea S\u1eefa \u0110\u00e1<\/strong> is one of the most popular coffee drinks in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and is rich, thick and strong, sweetened<\/strong> with condensed milk. Meanwhile, C\u00e0 Ph\u00ea Tr\u1ee9ng, aka Egg Coffee<\/strong>, is famous for using whisked egg yolks to create its rich topping\u2014invented in post-war 1940s Vietnam when condensed milk was scarce.<\/p>\n

What is the new Tranquil 1992 like? <\/p>\n

The new location on Hall Street<\/strong> expands the caf\u00e9\u2019s capacity to 27 customers, while maintaining Tranquil 1992\u2019s signature mid-century aesthetic and ambient lighting. As well as a curated menu of authentic Vietnamese coffee, enjoy premium Uji matcha imported from Japan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the added space, Tranquil 1992 plans to enhance its food offerings, expanding its bakery selection<\/strong>, and introduce new beverage options. \u201cThis is a major upgrade for us,\u201d added Nguyen. \u201cWe are incredibly grateful for the support we\u2019ve received from our customers, and we\u2019re excited to bring something new and vibrant to the Jewellery Quarter.\u201d<\/p>\n
