Vladimir Putin has been told he would be committing a “terrible sin” by not deploying nuclear weapons<\/a> across Europe and urged to bomb the UK.<\/p>\n The shocking assertions were put forward by Sergei Karaganov, 73, dubbed Professor Doomsday, honorary chairman of the Russian Council for Foreign and Defence Policy. He insisted that tactical atomic weapons usage represents the sole method to avert a broader conflict between the US and Russia<\/a>.<\/p>\n He joins the growing ranks of Putin loyalists and Kremlin voices calling for nuclear escalation in the Ukraine<\/a> conflict and confrontation with NATO. The remarks follow what appears to be a shift in position from US President Donald Trump<\/a>, who has suggested Ukraine could realistically reclaim all territory seized by Putin’s forces.<\/p>\n Karaganov declared: “The use of nuclear weapons, in extreme cases, in the most dreadful case, is a terrible sin,” reports the Express<\/a>. “But not using them and condemning your people and the world<\/a> to a major war is an even greater sin. That is an even more terrible sin.”<\/p>\n Broadcasting on Russian state television, the political scientist repeated Moscow’s propaganda that frequently references a supposed threat emanating from the nation’s western frontier with NATO allies. He continued: “We must abandon some of the foolish ideas devised by our predecessors who still say that a nuclear war shouldn’t happen and that it can never be won.<\/p>\n “This is absolute nonsense. A nuclear war can be won, God forbid it happens. We must first break the will of the European elites.<\/p>\n “What I call breaking the back of Europe, in the hope that… normal, healthy forces can rise again in Europe. I fear that if we are not prepared to use the most decisive measures, the most terrible weapons.<\/p>\n “And do not abandon the complacent notion that a nuclear war cannot be won, we could find ourselves in a very long, attritional war with this still-rich Europe. And ultimately, God forbid, exhaust our people. And most importantly, we could allow this war to spread to all of humanity.<\/p>\n “This European contagion must be eradicated. We need to prepare to strike, or at least make them understand that we are ready.
