Dejphon Chansiri may look to cling on to his control of Sheffield Wednesday despite the impending arrival of an English football regulator.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is according to football finance expert Dan Plumley, who told Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively that he was baffled by the Thai businessman\u2019s decision not to sell the club this season.<\/p>\n

The Labour Party is currently undergoing the process of fast-tracking the introduction of a regulator with a view to a November arrival.<\/p>\n

The regulator will have the power to take control of Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> if the current owner is seen as threatening the club\u2019s existence.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday have been hit with two more transfer embargoes<\/a>, having been placed under a transfer restriction earlier in the summer. <\/p>\n

However, despite all signs pointing towards the regulator taking control of the club from Chansiri<\/a>, there are no guarantees that the Owls\u2019 owner will make the process easy.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively, Plumley<\/a> explained that whilst Chansiri would be well-advised to sell Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, the 57-year-old\u2019s past behaviour makes predicting his next move a difficult task.<\/p>\n

The threat of relegation is causing the club\u2019s value to diminish, but the Thai businessman has shown no signs of being willing to sell, even with the regulator\u2019s arrival threatening to take that decision out of his hands.<\/p>\n

Plumley said: \u201cIt\u2019s certainly going to drive down the price if it\u2019s a League One football club, or looking like a League One football club, which is feasible at this point.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not quite sure the reasons now for clinging on, because I think there\u2019s probably a time to get out and actually, that time has gone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s a good deal on the table, I\u2019d be suggesting that, he should be taking it because the regulator\u2019s going to have powers that other governing bodies and league organisers haven\u2019t had in football, and it will be really interesting to see how it plays out, but not if you\u2019re a fan, of course, because it\u2019s absolutely horrendous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday desperate for resolution prior to January<\/p>\n

Having spent much of the summer unable to sign players, the EFL\u2019s decision to lift the restrictions late in the window gave the Owls a much-needed boost in the transfer market.<\/p>\n

Ethan Horvath and Harry Amass joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan<\/a>, and both have become crucial members of Henrik Pedersen\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n

However, the Owls remain in a dire position, sitting 23rd in the Championship table on four points.<\/p>\n

The winter transfer window will be make or break for Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> when it comes to survival as reinforcements are desperately needed.<\/p>\n

But if the club remain under embargo throughout January and is unable to sign new players, Pedersen\u2019s side will inevitably drop down to England\u2019s third-tier, making a resolution to their current predicament absolutely necessary before then.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
