During a press conference Saturday at the San Sebastian Film Festival in northern Spain, journalist Maria Guerra noted to Jolie that \u201cthe U.S. is going through a concerning period of time due to the freedom of expression.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jolie, who was promoting her latest film, \u201cCouture,\u201d took her time to respond to what she said was \u201cobviously a very difficult question,\u201d but stressed, \u201cI love my country … but I don\u2019t, at this time, recognize my country.\u201d<\/p>\n
She then emphasized that she\u2019s always had a broad worldview.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always lived internationally, I\u2019ve always, my family\u2019s international, my friends, my life, my world view is equal, united, international,\u201d Jolie said. \u201cSo anything, anywhere that divides or, of course, limits personal expressions and freedoms and, from anyone, I think is very dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jolie also said the tenor of the times requires people to be intentional about what they say and the possible effect of their words.<\/p>\n
