Leeds believed they didn’t have enough of a case to take the matter to court, unlike Burnley who are suing the Merseyside club.

Instead, the two clubs have drawn a line under the matter with Everton paying out Leeds. Seemingly, this settlement comes in accordance with the merit payments pertaining to a 16th and 17th-place finish. The Toffees earned £2,057,220 more through finishing one place higher.

While Everton also were found in breach the following 22/23 campaign (when Leeds were relegated), United’s 19th-place finish means they don’t have a leg to stand on regarding legal action there with Everton – even though all three teams that finished above Leeds that season breached PSR.

Everton and Leeds United draw line under PSR feud

Leeds were due some form of compensation from this issue. The fact Everton have managed to stay up during a few seasons of struggle while breaching PSR is not good.

It brings the rules into disrepute if clubs only get a slap on the wrists after the fact with a meagre points deduction. It ultimately didn’t change anything, given they’ve managed to consolidate in the meantime.

Look at Nottingham Forest, they could have easily gone down had they been hit with a points deduction promptly, or actually sold players to work within their means like Leeds did. They’re now playing in the Europa League tonight after more huge spending.

At least Everton have drawn a line under it by agreeing a sum with Leeds.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Everton and Leeds United reached an agreement for a settlement regarding the Toffees’ PSR breaches in the 21/22…

[8814
748,25764,393,11817,4884,1860,2922,142361,142362,16,15
0":"post-449458","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-elland-road","10":"tag-england","11":"tag-everton","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-leeds","14":"tag-leeds-united","15":"tag-lufc","16":"tag-the-whites","17":"tag-uk","18":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
