{"id":450089,"date":"2025-09-25T09:44:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T09:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/450089\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T09:44:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T09:44:13","slug":"beetlejuice-the-musical-to-open-at-londons-prince-edward-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/450089\/","title":{"rendered":"Beetlejuice The Musical to open at London\u2019s Prince Edward Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The smash-hit Broadway production of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/62411\/shows\/beetlejuice-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Beetlejuice The Musical<\/strong> <\/a>is coming to London!<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/113713\/news\/beetlejuice-the-musical-in-london-what-we-know-so-far\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">years of speculation<\/a>, producers of the show have announced that Beetlejuice The Musical will open at the West End\u2019s <strong>Prince Edward Theatre<\/strong> in London in May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The show will follow <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/115651\/shows\/mj-the-musical-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MJ The Musical<\/a><\/strong>, which concludes its run at the theatre on 28 February 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Based on Tim Burton\u2019s much-loved 1988 film starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, Beetlejuice has a book by <strong>Scott Brown<\/strong> and Emmy Award nominee <strong>Anthony King<\/strong> (Broad City), music and lyrics by <strong>Eddie Perfect<\/strong>, and musical direction, orchestrations and incidental music by <strong>Kris Kukul<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by two-time Tony Award-winner <strong>Alex Timbers<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/59969\/shows\/moulin-rouge-the-musical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moulin Rouge! The Musical<\/a>, Just in Time), the\u00a0musical follows gothic teen Lydia Deetz, a recently deceased couple, and a flamboyant demon who\u2019s more than fond of black\u2011and\u2011white stripes.<\/p>\n<p>The creative team also includes choreography by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom), set design by David Korins, costume design by\u00a0William Ivey Long, lighting design by\u00a0Kenneth Posner, sound design by\u00a0Peter Hylenski, projection design by\u00a0Peter Nigrini, and puppet design by\u00a0Michael Curry.<\/p>\n<p>Burton\u2019s beloved cult-classic film starred Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, along with Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O\u2019Hara, and Winona Ryder.<\/p>\n<p>Beetlejuice The Musical premiered on Broadway in April 2019 at the Winter Garden Theatre, though its initial run was cut short by Covid. The production returned to Broadway\u2019s Marquis Theatre in April 2022, where it played until January 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The musical then launched a major North American tour, and is set to return to New York for a limited 13-week season at the <strong>Palace Theater<\/strong> from <strong>8 October 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Internationally, the show premiered in Melbourne Australia this year before transferring to Sydney, and will play dates in <strong>Abu Dhabi<\/strong> and <strong>Singapore<\/strong>, where Broadway star <strong>Andy Karl<\/strong> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/297503\/news\/andy-karl-to-star-in-singapore-premiere-of-beetlejuice-the-musical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">been announced to take<\/a> on the title role.<\/p>\n<p>Full casting for London is to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>The show is produced by Crossroads Live and Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.<\/p>\n<p>James Lane, Producer, Crossroads Live said in a statement: \u201cThe wait is over! We are beyond thrilled to be working alongside Warner Bros. and the ingenious team behind Beetlejuice to bring this highly anticipated Broadway hit to London\u2019s West End at last. There is nothing else quite like this show, and audiences really are in for a terrifyingly hilarious treat at the spectacular Prince Edward Theatre next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Producers Mark Kaufman (Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures) and Kevin McCormick (Langley Park Productions) said: \u201cAfter three successful Broadway engagements, a record-setting 88-city North American tour, and captivating audiences across international stages in Tokyo, Seoul, Abu Dhabi, and Melbourne, Beetlejuice will finally arrive in the United Kingdom. We are thrilled Beetlejuice will soon make its debut in London\u2019s West End with its signature wit and irreverence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beetlejuice The Musical is playing at the Prince Edward Theatre in London from May 2026, with dates to be announced.
