A Birmingham coffee shop that was ‘coming soon’ for years has closed suddenly after 11 months.<\/p>\n

Yorks, on the Paradise development in the city centre, opened after nearly three years of ‘coming soon’ anticipation<\/a> last October.<\/p>\n

Now a sign in the window says it is ‘having to close’ due to ‘a few issues’ – with no details specified.<\/p>\n

Signage in the window of the closed venue reads: “Dear customers. We are having to close while we resolve a few issues.<\/p>\n

BirminghamLive has contacted Yorks to find out more.<\/p>\n

Yorks owner Simon Ford is listed as director on three active businesses on Companies House, the status of two of which – namely Yorks Bell Court Limited and Yorks Stratford Limited – are ‘liquidation’.<\/p>\n

The third, Yorks Brindley Limited, is flagged with an ‘active proposal to strike-off’.<\/p>\n

The Paradise branch closure is the second for Yorks in a year.<\/p>\n

Back in November 2024, bailiffs moved in to Yorks’ Stephenson Street branch, with Simon Ford telling BirminghamLive at the time ‘I know it doesn’t look good’<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said that the move was only temporary to allow them to ‘make the location even better’, though the cafe has not since reopened and sits empty on a street of closed businesses<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Yorks opened on the Paradise development last autumn after years of anticipation.
