Tony Walsh \u2013 more commonly known as \u2018DJ Tizer\u2019 \u2013 died suddenly last Saturday.<\/p>\n

Described as \u201cIreland’s number one Happy Hardcore DJ\u201d, Tony was famous for staging \u2018old skool raves\u2019.<\/p>\n

He has been remembered by many for creating iconic nights in some of Northern Ireland\u2019s most famous nightclubs and dance music venues, many of which are now defunct.<\/p>\n

He performed in Kelly\u2019s in Portrush, Clubland in Cookstown, the Planetlove festival in Belfast and Exit 15 in Dungannon.<\/p>\n

DJ Tizer<\/p>\n

Mr Walsh\u2019s funeral mass was held in St Patrick\u2019s Church on Dromore Street in Banbridge on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the service a friend of Tony\u2019s placed several of his records on the altar, symbolising his love for his DJ-ing career.<\/p>\n

During the service the parish priest, Fr John McAreavey, spoke about Mr Walsh\u2019s \u2018musical gifts\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing these gifts he touched the lives of many young people in his generation,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe news of Antony\u2019s death last Saturday would have caused a great shock, sadness and distress to those who know and follow him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank God for his talents [and] larger than life personality.\u201d<\/p>\n

A death notice described Mr Walsh as \u201ca loving father\u201d and \u201cmuch loved son\u201d.<\/p>\n

Fr McAreavey offered his sympathies to the bereaved relatives, adding: \u201cWe ask God to give them comfort and strength at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The priest also offered prayers to Mr Walsh\u2019s fans and \u2018all involved with the world of music\u2019.<\/p>\n

Many of Mr Walsh\u2019s friends and colleagues paid tribute to him following news of his passing.<\/p>\n

A close friend, who had been helping run his Facebook page \u2018DJ Tizer NI,\u201d said \u2018a lot of people never really knew the real Tony\u2026 the man behind the myth\/legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that Mr Walsh was a loving father, and that his boys were all that mattered.<\/p>\n

He even stopped DJ-ing so that he could spend time with them at the weekends.<\/p>\n

Fellow NI DJ Micky Modelle also paid his respects via social media on Sunday, writing: \u201cJust landed in Ibiza today and was devastated to hear of the passing of my dear friend DJ Tizer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were friends 30 years. Such an Inspiration to us all in the early days.<\/p>\n

“He was a technical wizard on vinyl turntables the Scratch Master. I never saw anyone better at that time.<\/p>\n

“He just lit up the room everywhere he played and I have many fond memories of gigs we did together.<\/p>\n

“I can be thankful for the 30 years of friendship and memories we had.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another friend and fan said that Mr Walsh was \u201cthe best to ever stand behind a set of decks\u201d.<\/p>\n
