Sergey Lavrov said in his address, \u201cNATO and the EU have basically declared war on my country and are partaking of it directly.\u201d <\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday accused NATO and the European Union of “declaring war” against Moscow through their support for Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lavrov was speaking at the G20 <\/a>foreign ministers\u2019 meeting at the United Nations<\/a> headquarters in New York, when he said the Western blocs had crossed the line from providing assistance to directly engaging in the conflict.<\/p>\n

\u201cNATO and the EU have basically declared war on my country and are partaking of it directly,\u201d Lavrov said in his address.<\/p>\n

His comments come as tensions escalate between Russia <\/a>and NATO<\/a>, following allegations that Russian drones and fighter jets violated alliance airspace in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Russia foreign minister’s statement echoed earlier remarks by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who told reporters that \u201cNATO is at war with Russia,\u201d Russia\u2019s state news agency TASS reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s evident, and it doesn\u2019t need any additional confirmation,\u201d Peskov said, adding that \u201cNATO is de facto taking part in this war\u201d by providing both direct and indirect support to what Moscow calls the Kiev regime.<\/p>\n

The comments follow fresh remark by US President Donald Trump this week. The Republican President called on Ukraine to reclaim all territories seized by Russia <\/a>\u201cwith the support of the European Union,\u201d while describing Washington\u2019s role as selling weapons for allies to supply to Kyiv.<\/p>\n

NATO, Russia at odds<\/p>\n

NATO member Poland said it intercepted at least three Russian drones <\/a>that crossed into its airspace on September 10.<\/p>\n

Last week, Estonia said it has requested urgent consultations with NATO allies<\/a> after three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated its airspace.<\/p>\n

According to the BBC, the aircraft crossed into Estonian skies over the Gulf of Finland \u201cwithout permission\u201d and remained for 12 minutes before being escorted out by NATO jets.<\/p>\n

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal condemned the breach in a post on X, calling it \u201ctotally unacceptable.\u201d He added that the country had formally invoked Article 4 of the NATO treaty, which requires urgent consultations among the alliance\u2019s 32 members.<\/p>\n
