HMRC have named and shamed the businesses and individuals in Northern Ireland who have failed to meet their tax obligations.<\/p>\n

A total of eighteen businesses and individuals from here are on a list published by the HMRC<\/a> of the 109 UK companies and people who have received penalties for deliberately defaulting on their tax obligations where the tax lost exceeds \u00a325,000.<\/p>\n

Those on the list from Northern Ireland<\/a> include a car salesman with a penalty of over \u00a32 million, a plasterer penalised over \u00a3170,000 and a Belfast based vape retailer.<\/p>\n

Kevin Hubbard, HMRC’s Director of Individuals and Small Business Compliance, said: “We are determined to tackle the minority who deliberately refuse to pay what they owe and will pursue all available avenues to recover unpaid amounts.<\/p>\n

“Publishing the names of deliberate defaulters sends a clear message that this behaviour has consequences and encourages compliance across the board.”<\/p>\n
