Judge Matt Jackson KC remarked Njoku had suffered racist abuse as a youngster and latterly had a good \u201cwork ethic\u201d, which made his decision to arm himself with a knife \u201call the more baffling\u201d.<\/p>\n
He will also be supervised for a further 18 months on his release.<\/p>\n
Njoku was joined in the dock by 18 year-old Dede Bankole.<\/p>\n
The teenager had been convicted at the same trial of assaulting Donnel Sarr that night in Grace\u2019s.<\/p>\n
He was said to have punched, kicked and stamped on the man to his injury and danger of life.<\/p>\n
Judge Jackson stated CCTV footage of that incident displayed the \u201chorrible degree of violence\u201d inflicted.<\/p>\n
After consideration, he had decided not to keep Bankole in custody.<\/p>\n
He had been on remand pending sentencing.<\/p>\n
Bankole was instead put on a two-year community payback order.<\/p>\n
As part of that, he must do 250 hours of unpaid work and is subject to a nine-month curfew keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am each night.<\/p>\n
