YOU couldn’t go to a beach in the 1990s without seeing at least one pair of them. <\/p>\n

But there’s a reason that the jelly sandal<\/a> lost favour with fashion fans – namely due to the stiff plastic leading to sweaty feet and blisters. <\/p>\n

But people were divided as to whether they wanted to try the shoes or notCredit: Primark<\/p>\n

Primark <\/a>seems to have forgotten that fact, though, and is attempting to revisit the trend with a new arrival.<\/p>\n

One shopper took to TikTok <\/a>to share her delight after finding a pair of sparkly, clear plastic jelly shoes in her local Primark, as she urged “millennials assemble”. <\/p>\n

“Look what I’ve just found in Primark!” Katie said, as she delightedly modelled the \u00a37 shoes in the mirror. <\/p>\n

She then said she was off to look for some different colours in the footwear. <\/p>\n

But the comments section was almost immediately filled with people debating whether or not they could suffer through the trend again – or if it should stay in the past where it belongs.<\/p>\n

“I’ve got blisters just looking at them,” one sighed. <\/p>\n

“I’d put the pain they cause in a dark box in my head and locked it away! thanks for unlocking the fear,” another added.<\/p>\n

“Oooh…. I feel the blisters from just looking at them,” a third commented. <\/p>\n

“Flashbacks to the 80’s seeing these – sweaty, blistered feet,” someone else winced. <\/p>\n

“Noooooo! I can feel the stone wedged underneath and poking my foot!” another giggled. <\/p>\n

I’m a mum-of-12, I’ve found the perfect Nike dupe sportswear for just \u00a34.50<\/p>\n

“THE BLISTERS. THE ME SLIPPING BECAUSE OF THE FOOT SWEAT. I CAN NOT RE LIVE THIS!” someone else yelled. <\/p>\n

However, others were more on board with the idea of jelly shoes returning to stores. <\/p>\n

“Take my money!” one insisted.<\/p>\n

“Omg they’re back,” another added, alongside heart eye emojis. <\/p>\n

“Omg yes, I had 3 pairs back in the days lol!” a third said. <\/p>\n

“These gave me blisters for days but you know what I’ll be buying a pair for nostalgia,” someone else said. <\/p>\n

NINETIES and noughties trends especially have become a hit with Gen Z – most likely because they didn\u2019t wear them the first time round. Here, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale gives the rundown of some of the trends that have made a comeback that we wish did not. <\/p>\n

Disc belts <\/strong><\/p>\n

“A hit with celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Blake Lively, the belt itself did nothing that a belt should actually do – it was a mere fashion statement, not a piece to actually hold anything up.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“And it seems it\u2019s not just me who is enraged by its return, with many taking to\u00a0TikTok<\/a>\u00a0to give their views, saying: ‘Oh no not the disc belt! I don\u2019t think I have the energy for it a 2nd time around’ – I feel you.”<\/p>\n

Jelly shoes<\/strong><\/p>\n

“After not being seen on shelves for decades, they\u2019ve made a reappearance and this time they\u2019re not just for kids.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Coming in a range of colourful patterns, you can get them all over the high street in either flat or heeled versions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Not only will you look very childish wearing such shoes, but people will also need to learn that they aren\u2019t the comfiest – blister plasters will come in handy.”<\/p>\n

Pedal pushers <\/strong><\/p>\n

“The cropped knee-grazing trouser were all the rage in the 1990s and 2000s, but this time the model fash pack are all over them – with both\u00a0Bella Hadid<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Emily Ratajkowski<\/a>\u00a0wearing them out recently.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The original IT girls,\u00a0Marilyn Monroe<\/a>, Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot helped make the trousers – also called Capri pants – look effortlessly cool and glam.<\/p>\n

“Somehow this time round they don\u2019t seem to be having that same effect.”<\/p>\n

“What other colours have they got?”<\/p>\n

To which Katie replied: “I don’t ever remember suffering with them! <\/p>\n

“They had matte black and the silver but more colours are coming apparently!!”<\/p>\n

In the description on the Primark website, they wrote that the shoes “feature a classic fisherman design with adjustable buckle for the perfect custom fit”. <\/p>\n
