Clap Hanz has been making Everybody\u2019s Golf<\/a> games since the PS1 days, but it didn\u2019t create the latest version, which released earlier this month on the PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n

Sony actually licensed the franchise out to Bandai Namco, retaining ownership of the intellectual property but having little else to do with it.<\/p>\n

The game\u2019s<\/a> okay<\/a>, but it\u2019s sloppy in several key areas, and that\u2019s led to a lot of complaints.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, it seems a lot of fans have been turning to original developer Clap Hanz for help, even though it had absolutely nothing to do with the game.<\/p>\n

In a statement<\/a>, CEO Masashi Muramori starts by reflecting on the success of its latest release, Easy Come Easy Golf<\/a>, which is effectively Everybody\u2019s Golf in all but name.<\/p>\n

However, as his message continues, he says:<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease note that due to our long-standing involvement in developing the Everybody\u2019s Golf franchise, we continue to receive questions and inquiries about Everybody\u2019s Golf Hot Shots. However, while we can provide necessary improvements and support for titles we developed directly in the past at the request of SIE, we were not involved in developing Everybody\u2019s Golf Hot Shots. We kindly ask for your understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Honestly, we\u2019d love to know what went on behind-the-scenes with Sony and Clap Hanz, because it\u2019s wild to us that Easy Come Easy Golf has never even been ported to the PS5. (It\u2019s only available on Switch and mobile.)<\/p>\n

We assume a lot of it has to do with the closure of Japan Studio, as it worked as a producer on the property. But still, for the relationship to break down this bad feels like a shame, and it must hurt for Clap Hanz to see the series it contributed to for so many years getting palmed off to another publisher.<\/p>\n
