Chris was a popular figure in the areaDamaged Christopher Fudge tributes, Wythenshawe<\/p>\n

Tributes left for a much-loved local homeless man in Wythenshawe<\/a> have been wrecked.<\/p>\n

Flowers and notes that were stuck to a post outside a row of shops where Christopher Fudge was commonly found have been ripped and left scattered on the floor.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, it was reported that Christopher, known locally as Chris, had died and the community banded together to commemorate him on Greenbrow Road, where he frequented for a number of years.<\/p>\n

Along with the flowers, sombre notes were written on a piece of cardboard wrapped around a pole in Chris’ memory.<\/p>\n

One message, that has now been torn, read: “You were such a nice man, an angel sent from heaven.” While another said: “Hope you have a nice time in heaven with your mum and brother.”<\/p>\n

Speaking to the M.E.N, a local who preferred to remain anonymous, said: “He definitely deserved better than this.<\/p>\n

“For whoever’s done this, it’s not befitting of the kind of character that Chris was.<\/p>\n

“I’d understand if he was awful and horrible to people, but he wasn’t. He was just a lovely sound bloke who fell on hard times.<\/p>\n

“He was as sound as they come.”<\/p>\n

Chris, was the brother of James Murray, who sadly died when he was stabbed in the chest in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the M.E.N, a member of the public who spoke to Chris often, said: “He was such a lovely man, he was always there and never left.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been crying all night thinking about him. I’ve been thinking ‘maybe I should have done more, maybe I should have taken him in’<\/p>\n

“I saw him everyday and we always had a chat. He was so loved and used to mind people’s dogs when they went into the shops.”<\/p>\n
