The fans are pleased too, and are excited to see what the future holds with the giant German leading the line.

For Bayern Munich, they hoped the future would see him leading their attack. However, Munich could not afford Woltemade, which opened the door for Newcastle United to swoop in.

That is something that the Bundesliga giants are already regretting.

Photo by Serena Taylor/Newcastle United via Getty ImagesBayern Munich are not happy Nick Woltemade joined Newcastle United

That is according to journalist Danny Kelly, who has spoken about Bayern Munich’s reaction to missing out on Woltemade to Newcastle United on the latest episode of the View From The Lane podcast.

Kelly says he was told that Bayern Munich missing out on Woltemade was also to do with his potential game-time at the Allianz Arena, with Harry Kane already leading the line there.

“All I will say about that very quickly, and from talking to my colleagues on Trans Europe Express [podcast], is that Bayern Munich are beside themselves with fury that Nick Woltemade went to Newcastle,” he said.

“They thought he would be automatically straight into the Bayern squad, but part of the reason he didn’t go, of course, was because he knew he wouldn’t get game time up front [ahead of Harry Kane]. He wants to play as a striker, and he didn’t go to Munich for that exact reason.

“So Munich are furious with themselves and the boy for allowing this situation to develop.”

Bayern Munich chief says Nick Woltemade was too expensive

Woltemade’s move to Newcastle United has not gone down well in Germany.

There certainly appears to be a bit of bitterness from the Bayern Munich camp, with honorary club president Uli Hoeneß stating that the Magpies massively overspent on the striker.

“He [Woltemade] isn’t worth the 90million [euros],” he told SPORT1.

“That only happened because of the money flowing from Saudi Arabia.”

Strangely, the Woltemade fee in Germany has been inflated. There have been consistent claims that Newcastle spent £79million on him. However, the fee was actually £10million less than that, including add-ons.

Bayern Munich’s loss is Newcastle United’s gain. They were able to do what Bayern could not, striking a deal with Stuttgart for one of the most interesting strikers in all of Europe.

Woltemade is still building up his fitness, but the early signs on Tyneside are promising. He has made a real impression with the Toon Army, and it is going to be exciting to see what he is capable of when he is fully up to speed.

Once that happens, no one will be able to argue that the Magpies overspent.

Bayern Munich are the reason Newcastle United were able to sign Nick Woltemade.
