Scheffler is gaining momentum in the final match but the Scotsman comes up with a brilliant shot at the par-three 14th, a high cut to only 5ft, and Hovland holes the putt to get to one up again. <\/p>\n
Four matches. Four victories. McIlroy and Fleetwood are an absolutely relentless force in Ryder Cup foursomes together.<\/p>\n
In fact, Fleetwood has never lost in foursomes in the Ryder Cup, winning six from six going back to his partnership with Francesco Molinari in Rome. They wrap up a 3&2 victory at the 16th and Europe lead by three points once again.<\/p>\n
Nerves from Europe. McIlroy and Fleetwood lose a second hole in a row, meaning they are now only two up with three holes to play; Rahm and Hatton make a mess of the 14th but escape with a half; and Hovland\u2019s approach into the par-five 13th is far too long and leaves the door open for Scheffler. The world No1 has been much improved today and sticks his approach to 9ft \u2014 that final match could be back at all square shortly. <\/p>\n
Europe lead in three matches, but only just, and it\u2019s getting to McIlroy. He turns round to the American fans as he lines up his approach at the 16th and shouts, \u201cShut the f*** up.\u201d From out the rough, his ball then finishes 3ft from the hole. That\u2019s one way to keep them quiet.<\/p>\n
USA win first point of day<\/p>\n
Bradley will have demanded a statement opening performance after Europe\u2019s dominance yesterday and that is exactly what the big-hitting Young and DeChambeau have provided. A highly impressive 4&2 victory, in which they were five under through 16, has brought USA back to 5\u00bd-3\u00bd down.<\/p>\n

It was a stellar American performance, but the result hinged just as much on the sloppy iron play of Aberg, who you\u2019d imagine will be rested this afternoon. Fitzpatrick meanwhile is clearly a man in form and should go out in the four-balls. He arrived here with only one win and seven defeats in three appearances and on the back of a poor run of form this year, but his ball-striking has been excellent.<\/p>\n

Hatton hooks his drive, Rahm\u2019s approach out the rough finishes 5ft from the hole, and Europe are two up. That has been the story of the day for the LIV duo and Donald\u2019s side now have breathing room in each of the final three matches.<\/p>\n

As Aberg continues to struggle alongside Fitzpatrick, Rahm is now carrying Hatton. The Englishman has made several wayward iron shots \u2014 as well as a horrible hook off the 10th tee with his driver \u2014 and his partner is having to save him with a chipping masterclass out the rough. They certainly would not have their one-up lead were it not for the Spaniard.<\/p>\n

The American pair are now three down but that has just as much to do with the putting of Fleetwood, who has already holed 55ft of putts in just seven holes. It goes from bad to worse for the Americans too, as a bogey at the par-three 8th leaves them four down.<\/p>\n Disappointing from Fitzpatrick, who leaves a par putt a couple of inches short at the 7th, and so goes one down against DeChambeau and Young. Never up, never in. Young then throws a dart into the par-three 8th that leaves DeChambeau less than 3ft for birdie, Fitzpatrick responds with a sumptuous iron shot to 6ft, but Aberg misses the putt. The Swede missed a few yesterday afternoon and now Europe have lost two straight holes. As a poor putt from Hatton gifts a hole back to Schauffele and Cantlay, the momentum just swings a hair back towards USA.<\/p>\n Young, left, has continued to impress on his debut appearance alongside DeChambeau<\/p>\n AP<\/p>\n Tom Kershaw, Bethpage Black<\/p>\n McIlroy and Fleetwood have resumed where they left off. The latter has holed two fantastic putts at the 2nd and 3rd before the Northern Irishman follows suit at the 5th. McIlroy is pumped and roars towards a group of fans behind the green. There is a huge group following this match inside the ropes, including Billy Horschel, who desperately wanted to make this US team but was hampered by injury. <\/p>\n Fleetwood has made multiples long putts already on Saturday<\/p>\n SPORTSFILE<\/p>\n In the final group, MacIntyre holes a brilliant putt of his own to go one up with Hovland over Scheffler and Henley.<\/p>\n It is telling that Scheffler took the first tee shot today instead of Henley as it shows Bradley knows he made a mistake yesterday. It was bizarre that Henley hit the opening tee shot instead of the world No1 yesterday morning, meaning that the shortest player on either team teed off on all of the odd \u2014 and therefore longer \u2014 holes. Today they have corrected that error. No surprise given that Scheffler ranks first for every tee-to-green metric on the PGA Tour but it has highlighted Bradley\u2019s error of judgment. <\/p>\n And from Rick Broadbent at Bethpage Black \u2014 Michael Jordan is watching Scottie Scheffler today. <\/p>\n Digging up a post from yesterday\u2026 here are some astonishing statistics that summarise just how much Scottie Scheffler struggles in the Ryder Cup. He is now winless in his past six matches and yesterday became the first world No1 to lose both Friday Ryder Cup matches since Tiger Woods in 2002.
