Chris Davies says he had \u2018a matter of seconds\u2019 to pick Marvin Ducksch\u2019s<\/a> replacement after the Birmingham City<\/a> striker pulled up in the warm up before Coventry.<\/p>\n Ducksch was due to lead the line for Blues for the second week in succession before feeling something right at the end of the warm up.<\/p>\n The German returned to the dressing room to inform his manager that he wouldn\u2019t be able to play and Lyndon Dykes<\/a> was summoned to start.<\/p>\n Dykes is the like-for-like replacement for Ducksch and that is why he got the nod ahead of Kyogo Furuhashi.<\/p>\n Explaining the incident, Davies said: \u201cMarvin just felt something in the warm up. It\u2019s not a good situation when that happens because suddenly everything needs to change and you need to change a player at the last minute.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel for him that he’s got injured because he was just getting up to speed but we don\u2019t know how long it\u2019s going to be or what exactly it is.<\/p>\n \u201cI had a matter of seconds to make a decision because it was right at the end of the warm up. I thought Lyndon was a good replacement in terms of the stature of the player and the type of player he is. I thought he lasted the game considering he hasn\u2019t played too many minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n Ducksch joined Blues with a calf injury but Davies suggested that the striker\u2019s new issue is unrelated.<\/p>\n The injury to Ducksch kickstarted a miserable afternoon for Blues who were well beaten by Coventry thanks to goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante, Bright Osayi-Samuel (OG) and Victor Torp.<\/p>\n Blues were trailing 1-0 when Jack Robinson saw red shortly before half-time and failed to regroup at the interval. Within four minutes of the start, Blues allowed Coventry to double their lead and Davies\u2019 plan went out the window.<\/p>\n The Blues boss said: \u201cFrom my point of view, we\u2019re down a player but first 20-25 minutes, don\u2019t concede a goal is basically the number one objective here. Stay solid and as the game wears on we will get opportunities.<\/p>\n \u201cTo concede that goal in the fashion that we did was very disappointing at that time.
