{"id":457124,"date":"2025-09-28T05:26:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-28T05:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/457124\/"},"modified":"2025-09-28T05:26:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T05:26:14","slug":"watch-polar-bears-take-over-abandoned-russian-research-station-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/457124\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch: Polar bears take over abandoned Russian research station | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of polar bears have taken over an abandoned research station off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/russia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia<\/a>&#8216;s far eastern coast.<\/p>\n<p>The animals have been intimately captured in drone footage taken by Russian traveler and photographer Vadim Makhorov.<\/p>\n<p>Makhorov was on a sea cruise in the Chukchi Sea with a group of tourists, when he spotted the polar bears near an abandoned building while he was filming the landscapes of Kolyuchin Island.<\/p>\n<p>The animals were using the building as a shelter to live and rest.<\/p>\n<p>Makhorov said the bears were not afraid of his drone, but instead appeared curious and even tried to interact with it playfully.<\/p>\n<p>The polar research station was established on the western part of Kolyuchin in 1943 and was closed in 1992.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A group of polar bears have taken over an abandoned research station off Russia&#8216;s far eastern coast.
