Literally.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A shocking number of spectators have turned the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/24\/sports\/how-public-gem-bethpage-black-became-iconic-ryder-cup-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legendary Bethpage Black course<\/a> in Long Island into their personal king-sized bed, as they were spotted passed out from exhaustion or drinking in the grass and trees of the tract during this week\u2019s Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went on Friday, and it was crazy. Even at 9 a.m. I saw a man passed out on one of the muddy hills,\u201d said Daniel Manzouri, 39, who lives in Williamsburg and works in sales. \u201cI probably saw between 10 and 12 people throughout the day asleep on the lawn.<\/p>\n<p>Ryder Cup attendee Daniel Manzouri spotted this man sleeping at 9 a.m. on the ground at Bethpage Black on Sept. 26, 2025. Daniel Manzouri<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople would walk by them and be like, \u2018Are you ok buddy?\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before attending the Ryder Cup \u2014 which ends Sunday \u2014 he assumed the tournament would exude a certain sophistication. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome tickets cost an upward of $1,500 so I thought it would be this classy thing, but it was debaucherous,\u201d he said. \u201cI saw people peeing in bottles because they didn\u2019t want to wait in line for porta-potties. People were changing all sorts of crazy things like profanity. I even saw some Europeans fighting with American fans. Heather Khalifa for the NY Post<\/p>\n<p>The tournament has ample opportunities for drinking. <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@golfoncbs\/video\/7554405724701363511?q=drunk*20people*20Ryder*20cup&amp;t=1759009394629__;JSUl!!F0Stn7g!EJD-X1ZJXputBDua2ZHultc0vInt0dq5ZCUwzOQRs3wvLaszR_I5NbGkUfufOScgqb-I1ZpYf7WxAKxrF5yvdOxL$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Videos circulating TikTok<\/a> show crowds waiting in line at 9 a.m. for beer tents to open.<\/p>\n<p>Bars served Michelob Ultra ($15); Bud Light Selzer ($16); Moet &amp; Chandon Imperial Brut ($22); and William Hill North Coast Chardonnay ($14). <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/24\/sports\/ryder-cup-2025-drink-prices-you-might-want-to-rethink-your-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Four specialty cocktails <\/a>were on offer including the Cherry Fairway Fizz, which came with a moonshine made for the Ryder Cup, and a limited-edition Ryder-Cup Rubber Duck. Patrons could also buy blood Marys, margaritas, and mules.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Manzouri was surprised people appeared to have gotten so drunk considering all food from the cheeseburgers to the Italian sausages to chicken sandwiches were complimentary. Tournament goers could pick up free water and Gatorade whenever they wanted. \u201cThey must have been drinking on the train or the bus or in their Uber before they even arrived,\u201d he said. \u201cHow else could you get that drunk by 9 a.m.?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Team USA fan caught sleeping on the ground during four-ball matches on Sept. 26, 2025. Heather Khalifa for the NY Post<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe one I saw in the morning I\u2019m not sure if he was drunk but the afternoon gentlemen was 100 percent passed the f\u2013k out,\u201d she said. \u201cThey were both on their sides.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fan believes the early morning start \u2014 gates open at 5 a.m., and many golf lovers run inside to get a good seat in a stadium\u201a and the fact that people are there all day in the hot sun contributed to the free-for-all-sleeping arrangements. She also noted that people who bought ground passes didn\u2019t have a perch to rest, so why not take to the grass?
