A big announcement and secret set sent music fans spiralling<\/p>\n

One of the world’s biggest bands sent shockwaves through the city’s music fans when they announced a show for Liverpool’s Anfield<\/a> Stadium. On Monday, My Chemical Romance <\/a>confirmed three new dates for the Black Parade 2026 tour<\/a>, marking the first of the local summer shows.<\/p>\n

Last week, fans speculated Anfield could be a stop on the tour after signs with the band’s logo were on the advertising hoardings during the Merseyside Derby.<\/a> Guitarist Frank Iero also shared an image of himself on Instagram wearing a Liverpool shirt on his social media channels as he said: “All eyez on the pitch tomorrow, Let\u2019s go Reds!”<\/p>\n

The next day, Anfield confirmed My Chemical Romance<\/a> as the first artist to be a part of its summer 2026 concert series. Huge stars such as Taylor Swift<\/a>, Bruce Springsteen<\/a> and Dua Lipa<\/a> have been among the acts to have played shows in L4 over recent years.<\/p>\n

The alternative rock band<\/a>, renowned for songs such as ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise),’ ‘Teenagers’ and ‘The Black Parade’, also announced a show in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park, adding to the the already sold out London Wembley run.<\/p>\n

The news sent former goths and emo kids spiralling, with hundreds of comments flooding social media with excitement. One fan said: “Best announcement ever.”<\/p>\n

Another said: “Omg so emotional watching this :\u2019).” A third fan said: “The Black Parade is back in action baby.” Another excited fan said: “Thank you, we love you soooo much!!!!! Can\u2019t wait to see you again!!!!!!”<\/p>\n

An additional fan comment reads: “THE BLACK PARADE IS ALIVE AND WELL. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE FOREVEEEEER!!!!!” Sick with excitement, another added: “IM GONNA THROW UP.”<\/p>\n

Tickets went on sale Friday, September 26 at midday, and sold out almost instantly. Despite a few disgruntled fans having the usual trouble with long waits and queue jumping, Anfield’s first summer concert went down a treat with the city.<\/p>\n

Superstar DJ MK, known for hits including ’17’, ‘Dior’, ‘Piece of Me’ and ‘Asking’, held a surprise gig on Friday at the Baltic Triangle. Fans were asked to sign up for the set without knowing where it would be, promised information closer to the time.<\/p>\n

Fans were issued a few hours before the show telling them where to go and that no tickets were necessary.
