We were just discussing Isak, Florian Wirtz of course had a very big chance as well.

“We were closer, closer to scoring a goal. So yeah, that was the reason to bring Cody in, because the way we played the first half wasn’t as I was hoping for before the game.”

As the Dutchman said, Liverpool did improve in the second half, producing 1.87 xG compared to 0.37 xG before the break.

However, Palace retained their threat and made Liverpool pay for a lapse in concentration at the end through Eddie Nketiah’s late winner.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-lazy-type="image" src="https://www.europesays.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/P2025-09-27-Crystal_Palace_Liverpool-118-600x400.jpg" alt="LONDON, ENGLAND - Saturday, September 27, 2025: Liverpool's Federico Chiesa celebrates with team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai after scoring his team first and equalising goal the FA Premier League match between Crystal Palace FC and Liverpool FC at Selhurst Park.
