A bar in Stockport<\/a> opened by the lead singer of Blossoms<\/a> is to close, it has been announced.<\/p>\n

Tom Ogden, the frontman and songwriter in the chart-topping indie band, and his wife Katie, opened cocktail bar Bohemian Arts Club<\/a> in their hometown in May 2023.<\/p>\n

Situated on Lower Hillgate in the town centre’s historic and booming Underbanks, the pair transformed a derelict space into a sleek and sophisticated speakeasy-style cocktail den.<\/p>\n

It was said to have been inspired by the pair’s experiences of bars they visited around the world during Tom’s time touring with Blossoms.<\/p>\n

Accessed from Coopers Brow, the two-floored bar sat above Bohemian salon, a boutique hairdresser’s, run by Katie, below.<\/p>\n

However, in an update shared on their social media pages today (Sunday), the business said the bar would be closing its doors next month, with the ‘thriving’ salon to expand into the space. The bar’s last day of operation will be Friday, October 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter an amazing 2\u00bd years, we\u2019re excited to share that the building is about to enter a brand-new chapter!” they said.<\/p>\n

“With the salon thriving and in such high demand, Bohemian will be expanding upstairs into the two floors above.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough this means the bar will be closing, and this brings sadness, we also couldn\u2019t be happier to see the space continue to flourish and evolve.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s been such a joy to share weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and countless celebrations with you all\u2014we\u2019ll always treasure those memories.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the M..EN when it opened in 2023, Kate said: “We’re from the area and we don’t think there’s anything like this in Stockport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’ve always wanted to open my own bar and salon and having visited cool speakeasies, tiny little bars and spaces, we knew exactly what style we wanted for our own.”<\/p>\n

“\u201cKatie and I met and married in Stockport, it\u2019s where everything started for the band, it\u2019s our home town; the place means a lot to us” Tom said.<\/p>\n
