Liverpool is anxiously awaiting news on the fitness of Jayden Danns<\/a> after the young striker suffered another unfortunate injury setback.<\/p>\n

Danns, who captained the U21 side in the Premier League 2<\/a> game against Ipswich on Saturday, was forced to leave the pitch just over half an hour into the 3-2 defeat. The 19-year-old is set to undergo medical examinations to determine the severity of his injury, but has already been ruled out of the midweek Champions League<\/a> trip to Galatasaray.<\/p>\n

Danns had previously been on the bench for Liverpool’s<\/a> 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid in the competition two weeks ago and made a substitute appearance in the last 15 minutes of the 2-1 League Cup triumph over Southampton at Anfield last week.<\/p>\n

The forward was scheduled to spend the latter half of last season on loan at Sunderland, but his campaign was prematurely ended by a back issue that necessitated further rehabilitation over the summer.<\/p>\n

Rob Page’s Liverpool players were already trailing due to a solo goal from Somto Boniface when Danns was forced off, and found themselves 2-0 down before half-time when Tudor Mendel netted for Ipswich from a corner.<\/p>\n

However, the visitors rallied in the second half, with Keyrol Figueroa heading in Kaide Gordon’s corner and Trent Kone-Doherty forcing an own goal from Ipswich defender Leon Elliott.<\/p>\n

The Tractor Boys, however, had the final word with a decisive goal from Corbin Mthunzi six minutes from time.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Simon Wiles’s U18 team bounced back from last week’s 8-3 drubbing at home to Blackburn with a 3-0 victory at Leeds.<\/p>\n

Joe Upton made an immediate impact off the bench, setting up the opening goal with his first touch as he delivered a corner for Lucas Clarke to head home.<\/p>\n

A.J. Yeguo then turned provider for La’more Lee Forrester and Finn Inglethorpe.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s U21 players are back in Premier League 2 action on Friday when they travel to Fulham, while the U19 stars face Galatasaray in Istanbul in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot will be disappointed to see Danns injured, as the Reds look to bounce back from their 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace when they travel to Turkey to face Galatasaray.<\/p>\n

“It was a very difficult first half,” said Slot of the loss at Palace. “Palace did really well and deserved to be 1-0 up, I think we were lucky it was only 1-0.<\/p>\n

“The second half was the opposite. It took a while before we scored; we did with a few minutes left, but they won the game from a second set-piece.<\/p>\n

“If you want to compete, you need a very positive balance with set-pieces – even more so in this league. It was one of our biggest strengths last season, but now we have conceded two against Newcastle United and two here.<\/p>\n
