Gary Neville issued a five-word verdict about Liverpool<\/a> after watching Arsenal score a late winning goal in the Premier League<\/a> title race. The Reds lost their first match of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n

Liverpool had won all seven of their previous matches in all competitions this season, including five in the Premier League. That had seen the Reds build a five-point lead at the top of the table, but that has now been reduced after Arsenal’s win<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Gunners claimed a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park to reduce the gap between themselves and Liverpool in the table to two points.<\/p>\n

Arsenal were trailing 1-0 going into the 84th minute before goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Magalhaes saw Mikel Arteta’s side claim all three points on their trip to Tyneside.<\/p>\n

It was soon after Gabriel had scored the winning goal for Arsenal that he delivered his verdict about Liverpool. While on commentary duty for Sky Sports, Neville said: “Liverpool players\u2019 hearts sinking slightly.”<\/p>\n

The Reds finished ten points clear of Mikel Arteta’s side last season and will be hoping for a similar points cushion come the end of the 2025\/26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Now though, Liverpool will be busy preparing for an away trip in the Champions League<\/a>, where they will take on Galatasaray in Turkey on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

After that, the Premier League will return next weekend as the Reds travel to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their final match before the October international break.<\/p>\n
