Superstar Robbie Williams<\/a> says he got so undernourished that he was diagnosed with scurvy.<\/p>\n The star had turned last year to an appetite-suppressant drug to lose weight, and shed nearly two stone. But he says: \u201cI\u2019d stopped eating and I wasn\u2019t getting nutrients.” He was so vitamin C deficient he was even diagnosed with scurvy.<\/p>\n \u201cA 17th century pirate disease,\u201d Robbie told the Mirror<\/a>. Asked what Ayda said to him when he was getting too thin, he replied: “With body dysmorphia<\/a>, when people say they\u2019re worried about how you\u2019re looking, you\u2019re like: \u2018I\u2019ve achieved it.\u2019 When people say: \u2018we\u2019re worried you\u2019re too thin\u2019 that goes into my head as \u2018jackpot. I\u2019ve reached the promised land.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Robbie was opening up to the Mirror’s Tom Bryant in a wide-ranging interview<\/a> ahead of his massive new tour.<\/p>\n In it, he also talked about how he had been hit by depression for the first time in 10 years. And he says he realised that it could be linked to his diet – forcing him to overhaul it.<\/p>\n Robbie says that he found the return of his depression particularly hard to deal with when he thought he had his mental health under control. He was first diagnosed with depression in his twenties, and has undergone high-profile battles with addiction<\/a>, anxiety and agoraphobia.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Dan Walker will never forget pal Gary Speed’s last words to him as tragic death left him ‘poleaxed’<\/a> He said: \u201cThe year started with some ill mental health<\/a>, which I haven\u2019t had for a very, very long time,\u201d he says \u201cI was sad, I was anxious, I was depressed.”<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cIt\u2019s been about ten years…I thought I was at the other end of the arc,\u201d he says. \u201cI thought this was the end of my story, and that I would just go walking into this marvelous wonderland. So for it to return was just confusing.\u201d Thankfully, the dark cloud has now lifted.<\/p>\n Robbie also opened up about how his 10-year-son Charlie was his biggest fan…eventually.<\/p>\n \u201cI did this gig in Munich<\/a> to 125,000 people, the place was going wild, and I\u2019m singing Let Me Entertain You<\/a> \u2026.but Charlie has just got his head down playing on his iPad,\u201d Robbie laughs.<\/p>\n \u201cBut at Hyde Park last year<\/a>, I came off, and afterwards, he was just looking at me with these wide eyes, like he had a moment of recognition that his dad was somebody other than somebody that tells him to stop misbehaving or the dad police.\u201d<\/p>\n For the time being his focus is on preparing for his huge stadium tour which kicks off in Edinburgh<\/a> on May 31, before shows in London, Manchester, Bath and Newcastle. It comes after a frenetic – and highly successful – 12 months for the star promoting last year\u2019s autobiographical Better Man film<\/a>, as well as his upcoming art exhibition Radical Honesty.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve set myself out with this giant task in my own mind of being the best entertainer on the planet,\u201d he says of the tour. \u201cAnd I know that sounds egoic and narcissistic, but I\u2019m sure that Cristiano Ronaldo<\/a> and Lionel Messi<\/a> didn\u2019t want to be the sixth best football player in the world<\/a> if they were given the opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Robbie](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/0_Better-Man-European-Premiere-Arrivals.jpg\")
